Detection of Welds in Automated Welding
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014This article deals with automated welding conceived as a robotic welding cell. Laser scanners used in automated welding are described in the main part of the article. Then, the control scheme of the robotic welding is defined. Several simple algorithms are proposed for the data processing.

The performance of the weld joints is determined by not only the load-resisting cross-sectional area of the joint but also properties of region close to the weld metal, i.e. heat affected zone (HAZ) and base metal. The design engineer must keep in mind that HAZ can be significantly weaker or stronger than the weld.

Optimization of the shape of weld edges in welded joints with fillet welds
Welding International, 2013The design of permanent joints with fillet welds characterized by bevelling of the edges with the depth decreasing with an increase in the distance from the weld edge to the centre of the weld is proposed. The experimental results show that in producing permanent joints with the edge bevel of variable depth, the volume of the deposited metal is reduced

Welding has become a high-tech process that needs sophisticated procedures, strong technical back-up and a new way of thinking. The common weld is a much maligned beast. Despite the layman's preconception that welding is a rough, unsubtle industrial process, it is actually a complex procedure with many parameters affecting the result.

Weld pool oscillations in laser welding
International Congress on Applications of Lasers & Electro-Optics, 1995The weld pool oscillations in laser spot welding were investigated experimentally using high speed schlieren photography and probe laser beam reflection technique. Millisecond, 3 kW power pulses from a Rofin-Sinar RS3000 CO2 laser were used for spot welding of SS304 stainless steel samples.

Determining The Weld Quality In Extrusion Welding
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011An overview is first given over various methods applied for testing of the bond strength across the extrusion weld obtained in hollow extruded profiles of light metals. A new innovative technique for measurement of weld quality has been developed and the mechanical characteristic of the method is then described.

Manganese-induced parkinsonism has been recognized since 1837. It has been reported primarily in miners, grinders, and smelters since that time. More recently, isolated case reports involving welders have appeared in the medical literature. Manganism can be distinguished from other forms of parkinsonism by clinical presentation with support from ...

Influence of welding conditions on resistance flash welds
International Journal of Microstructure and Materials Properties, 2013The contribution gives an insight into resistance flash welding with emphasis on process dynamics. For the experiments ribbed mild steel concrete reinforcement bars were used with a range of welding parameters used in a normal welding praxis. The welded bars were tested for tensile strength and the results were used to develop a regression model.
