Oligomer formation from the gas-phase reactions of Criegee intermediates with hydroperoxide esters: mechanism and kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2022
Hydroperoxide esters, formed in the reactions of carbonyl oxides (also called Criegee intermediates, CIs) with formic acid, play a crucial role in the formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) in the atmosphere.

Composition and volatility of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formed from oxidation of real tree emissions compared to simplified volatile organic compound (VOC) systems [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2020
Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) is an important constituent of the atmosphere where SOA particles are formed chiefly by the condensation or reactive uptake of oxidation products of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Atmospheric Conditions within Big Telescope Alt-Azimuthal Region and Possibilities of Astronomical Observations

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The paper presents the results of analysis of astroclimatic conditions in the Big Telescope Alt-azimuthal (BTA) region (40°N–50°N; 35°E–55°E). Using data from the European center for medium-range weather forecast ReAnalysis (ERA-5), we estimated the ...

Complex refractive indices in the ultraviolet and visible spectral region for highly absorbing non-spherical biomass burning aerosol [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2021
Biomass burning aerosol is a major source of PM2.5, and significantly affects Earth's radiative budget. The magnitude of its radiative effect is poorly quantified due to uncertainty in the optical properties of aerosol formed from biomass burning.

Analysis of Flexural Buckling Capacity of Stainless Steel Columns under Axial Compression

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
In order to provide a basis for the compilation of the bending buckling stability part of axially compressed columns in the technical code for stainless steel structures, the design methods and experimental research data of similar components are ...

Formulae for well formed formulae and their enumeration [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1974
1. General Idea. In this paper formal operators and bracketings devices are essentially the same; so are well formed formulae and correct bracketings.A well known theorem of symbolic logic (Post languages, etc.) and universal algebra characterizes well formed formulae among (linear) strings of symbols for variables and operators in terms of a system of

Quantum Transport of Dirac Fermions in HgTe Gapless Quantum Wells

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
We study the transport properties of HgTe quantum wells with critical well thickness, where the band gap is closed and the low energy spectrum is described by a single Dirac cone.

A resolution rule for well-formed formulae

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 1988
AbstractA resolution proof procedure that operates on well-formed formulae with all quantifiers in place is presented. Extension of the unification algorithm ρ Q-unification (i.e. with quantifiers in place) is also discussed. The procedure involves a single inference rule called WFF-resolution which is proved to be sound and complete.

The Radical Unacceptability Hypothesis: Accounting for Unacceptability without Universal Constraints

open access: yesLanguages, 2022
The Radical Unacceptability Hypothesis (RUH) has been proposed as a way of explaining the unacceptability of extraction from islands and frozen structures.

Compressible and Viscous Effects in Transonic Planar Flow around a Circular Cylinder—A Numerical Analysis Based on a Commercially Available CFD Tool

open access: yesFluids, 2023
Transonic planar flows around a circular cylinder are investigated numerically for laminar and turbulent flow conditions with Reynolds numbers of 50≤ReD≤300 and 8890≤ReD≤ 80,000 and free stream Mach numbers in the range of 0.2≤Ma∞≤2.
