The Sealing Performance of Cement Sheaths under Thermal Cycles for Low-Enthalpy Geothermal Wells
The repetitive process of shut-in and production in geothermal wells promotes thermal stress on the wellbore components, including annular cement. A cement sheath at a relatively shallow depth undergoes the most significant stress change due to the high ...

A Termite‐Inspired Alternative to Cement
A termite‐inspired composite of clay, cellulose, and lignin forms a dense fibrous network with concrete‐like strength (32 MPa) and superior elasticity, processed at ambient temperature. Abstract Clay combined with organic materials is used by termites as a strong and durable construction material for their mounds with minimal environmental impact. Here,

Microsphere Autolithography—A Scalable Approach for Arbitrary Patterning of Dielectric Spheres
MicroSphere Autolithography (µSAL) enables scalable fabrication of patchy particles with customizable surface motifs. Focusing light through dielectric microspheres creates well defined, tunable patches via a conformal poly(dopamine) photoresist. Nearly arbitrary surface patterns can be achieved, with the resolution set by the index contrast between ...

Apatite occurs in many forms in nature, e.g. in teeth and geological minerals. Internally, biological apatite contains nanocrystals that are also found in synthetically prepared calcium phosphate nanoparticles which are used in biomedicine, e.g. for gene and drug delivery and for bone regeneration. Abstract Calcium phosphate is the inorganic component (

Fuzzy simulation of forest road surface parameters [PDF]
The problem of construction of forest roads with the use of local low-strength substandard materials and industrial waste is considered. To solve the problem, the primary task is to develop a method for estimating the parameters of road surfaces taking ...

The effects of supplementary cementing materials in modifying the heat of hydration of concrete [PDF]
Supplementary cementing materials, such as ground granulated blastfurnace slag(GGBS), fly ash (FA) and condensed silica fume (CSF), are now routinely used in structural concrete.

From Waste to Value: Conversion of Calcium Sulfate to Vaterite via Carbon Capture and Storage
This study introduces a new concept for carbon management that relies on the carbonation of industrial gypsum waste and yields phase‐pure vaterite at ambient conditions without any additives. The obtained vaterite is further shown to be a reactive material that develops compressive strength in aqueous suspensions like conventional cements.
