Well-log Analysis of Shale Gas Reservoirs

2021
Well-logs provide continuous information about rocks and their pore fluid properties. Typical well-logs such as gamma-ray, density, neutron, sonic, and resistivity logs have been traditionally used to estimate shale volume, porosity, lithology, and fluid saturation in conventional oil and gas exploration, where shale formations are treated as ...

Wavelet analysis using well log information

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1988, 1988
An important problem in detailed lithologic studies from seismic data is the estimation of the signal wavelet. A methodology is proposed for estiiation of the wavelet using borehole information. In the processing sequence the wavelet amplitude and phase spectra re gradually investigated.

Well Logging Analysis in Niger Delta Basin

SPE Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition, 2021
Abstract A hydrocarbon exploration begins with the geological recognition of probable hydrocarbon accumulation areas, which are confirmed by seismic survey and, to ensure certainty, it is necessary to drill a well. On those exploration wells measurements are made down the hole for the formation evaluation.

Conventional Well Log Analysis

1985
The program is designed to provide the values of water saturation, porosity, hydrocarbon index, and movable oil index for each subinterval analyzed. In addition, the program provides average values of porosity, water saturation (Archie method, 1942), and net pay thickness for the total interval based on user-selected cut-off parameters.

Single and Multi-Well Synthetic Well Log Generation using Multivariate Analysis

Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference, 2020
Abstract With the rapid development in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms, computations power and availability of the massive amount of data, ML and DL approaches have gained a lot of interest in oil and gas industry and brought the data science and analytics into the forefront of this industry.

Wigner distribution analysis of acoustic well logs

ICASSP '87. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
We use the Wigner distribution(WD) mixed time-frequency representation(TFR) to design two heuristic algorithms that can be used to analyze and separate the compressional(P), shear(S), Pseudo-Rayleigh (PR), and Stoneley(ST) wave components of the multi-component time-varying borehole seismic signals recorded in well logging velocity surveys.

Performance analysis for acoustic well logging receivers

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
The structure of acoustic logging receivers can change their performance directly. In this article, impedance characteristics and receiving sensitivities of three kinds of acoustic logging receivers were numerically analyzed with the finite element method.

Basic well log analysis

2004
Abstract This publication is a general introduction to common openhole logging measurements, both wire line and MWD/LWD, and the interpretation of those measurements to determine the traditional analytical goals of porosity, fluid saturation, and lithology/mineralogy. It is arranged by the interpretation goals of the data, rather than by

A Real-Time Well Site Log Analysis Application Using MRI Logs

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2000
Abstract With any complex logging tool, there exists a need for a "qualitative and reasonable" analysis, run in real-time at the well site that both provides a preliminary interpretation of the data and also serves as a means for enhancing quality control.
