Identification of carbonate sedimentary facies from well logs with machine learning

open access: yesPetroleum Research
Sedimentary facies identification is critical for carbonate oil and gas reservoir development. The traditional method of sedimentary facies identification not only be affected by the engineer's experience but also takes a long time. Identifying carbonate

Evaluation of laminated shaly sand sequences in Ahwaz oil field using (via) high-resolution square logs

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2019
Thinly bedded and laminated shale-sand sequences are very common in most of the producing formations in Iran. Historically, traditionally well logging methods such as conventional resistivity measurement is employed to evaluate pay intervals in order to ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Reservoir descriptions of the Kömürlü and Penek Formations near Erzurum, East Anatolia, Turkey

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2019
In the work presented here, core and cutting samples from a single well were studied with the aim of understanding the diagenesis and reservoir properties of the Kömürlü and Penek Formation sandstones in the Aşkale sub-basin in East Anatolia.

Well logging overview [PDF]

open access: yesConcepts in Magnetic Resonance, 2001
into the NMR properties of fluids in porous media laid a firm fundamental basis for interpretation of NMR relaxation in later NMR logging data. These developments are described in Part 1. The next technological development was the invention, at Los Alamos, of permanent magnet/pulsed radio frequency (RF) NMR well logging in 1978.

Using a Research Log and Reflective Writing to Improve EBP and Information Literacy Skills of BSN Students [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background Baccalaureate nursing educators must prepare nurses to implement evidence-based practice (EBP). BSN nurses must be able to effectively identify, analyze, and synthesize evidence (AACN, 2008).

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Lithology Identification from Well Logs via Meta-Information Tensors and Quality-Aware Weighting

open access: yesBig Data and Cognitive Computing
In practical well-logging datasets, severe missing values, anomalous disturbances, and highly imbalanced lithology classes are pervasive. To address these challenges, this study proposes a well-logging lithology identification framework that combines ...

Prediction of Permeability Using Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) Neural Network from Well Log Data

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Permeability is an important petrophysical parameter that controls the fluid flow within the reservoir. Estimating permeability presents several challenges due to the conventional approach of core analysis or well testing, which are expensive and time ...
