Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Asymmetrical Flow Field Flow Fractionation Coupled to Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis for Rapid Enrichment and Online Characterization of Nanoparticles [PDF]
AF4 is a size separation technique that is routinely used for nanoparticle analysis due to the open channel design, the gentle forces used, and separation being done in native and stable buffers. NTA is an excellent detector for AF4 due to the flow cell

ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Enhancing separation of fats, oils and greases (FOGs) from catering establishment wastewater [PDF]
Removal of fats, oils and greases (FOG) from commercial food premises prior to discharge of wash waters into the sewer is critical in restricting blockage events. The FOG droplets that form are commonly removed in passive gravity separators.

Application of asphaltenes molecular structure analysis in assessing lateral reservoir continuity: A case study in the Bangestan reservoir from a field of Dezful Embayment [PDF]
Reservoir compartmentalization is a phenomenon whereby the presence of flow barriers divides a hydrocarbon reservoir into separate zones with distinct flow behaviors.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Long term behaviour of compost-like-output and its associated soils [PDF]
In 2000, the re-interpretation of the Waste Strategy (WS2000) for England and Wales was published. This document clearly laid out the Government's new strategy for managing waste and resources more efficiently, and detailed the transformations required ...

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,
