Wells syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, 2016
SummaryA rare eosinophilic dermatosis, Wells syndrome, also referred to as eosinophilic cellulitis, is characterized by great clinical variability. Typical findings include infiltrated erythematous plaques arising on the extremities. Lesions initially resemble erysipelas/cellulitis, however, they do not improve with antibiotic treatment.

Hole spin relaxation in [001] strained asymmetric Si/SiGe and Ge/SiGe quantum wells

open access: yes, 2009
Hole spin relaxation in [001] strained asymmetric Si/Si$_{0.7}$Ge$_{0.3}$ (Ge/Si$_{0.3}$Ge$_{0.7}$) quantum wells is investigated in the situation with only the lowest hole subband being relevant.

Performance of T-shape barriers with top surface covered with absorptive quadratic residue diffusers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A previous paper [Applied Acoustics 66 (2005) 709–730] has shown that adding a quadratic residue diffuser (QRD) to the top of a T-shape barrier can provide better barrier performance than an equivalent purely absorptive barrier.

Personalizing the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship: Adapting Training for the Next Generation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pediatric hematology‐oncology fellowship training curriculum has not substantially changed since its inception. The first year of training is clinically focused, and the second and third years are devoted to scholarship. However, this current structure leaves many fellows less competitive in the current job market, resulting in ...

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.

Combined Well Multi-Parameter Logs and Low-Flow Purging Data for Soil Permeability Assessment and Related Effects on Groundwater Sampling

open access: yesHydrology, 2023
Cost-effective remediation is increasingly dependent on high-resolution site characterization (HRSC), which is supposed to be necessary prior to interventions.

All’s Well That Scales Well [PDF]

open access: yesCell Systems, 2016
An unexpected thread ties together a few of the articles in this issue of Cell Systems. Our cover article introduces the ontotype (Yu et al., pp. 77–88). Akin to genotype and phenotype, an individual’s genetic and physical characteristics, an ontotype is the genotype organized and aggregated using a gene ontology.

Synchronized and desynchronized phases of coupled non-equilibrium exciton-polariton condensates

open access: yes, 2008
We theoretically analyze the synchronized and desynchronized phases of coupled non-equilibrium polariton condensates within mean field theory. An analytical condition for the existence of a synchronized phase is derived for two coupled wells. The case of

Nutritional and Behavioral Intervention for Long‐Term Childhood Acute Leukemia Survivors With Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a common complication in survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukemia (AL), and a major risk factor for premature cardiovascular disease, type‐2‐diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Naturally occurring radium (Ra) in home drinking‐water wells in the Sandhills region of South Carolina, USA: Can high concentrations be predicted?

open access: yesGeoHealth, 2017
A strong relationship exists between concentrations of several principal constituents of water chemistry and naturally occurring radium in water from home wells in the large Sandhills region of the inner coastal plain of South Carolina, United States, an
