On efficiency and accuracy of WENO schemes

2004
It is well known that the WENO schemes formally achieve high order of accuracy. On the other hand it was proven that in the presence of discontinuities the numerical methods are subject to a loss of formal accuracy. In this work we analyze the efficiency and accuracy of the numerical schemes on different one-dimensional problems.

Improved Seventh-Order WENO Scheme

48th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting Including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2010
In this paper, an improved seventh-order WENO (WENO-Z7) scheme is suggested by extending the 5th-order WENO scheme of Borges et al[R. Borges, M. Carmona, B. Costa, W. S. Don, An improved weighted essentially non-oscillatory scheme for hyperbolic conservation laws, J. Comput. Phys. 227(2008) 3191-3211].

Application of WENO-Schemes for Modelling Shock-Wave Processes

Mathematical Models and Computer Simulations
Summary: The present paper is concerned with the analysis of WENO-schemes for the solution of one-dimensional Euler equations with a Mie-Grüneisen type equation of state. The least dissipative and oscillatory modifications of WENO-schemes in characteristic variables with a monotonicity-preserving (MP) limiter are presented.
