Neotectonic movements of the polish west carpathians
CATENA, 1984Summary The article deals with neotectonic movements which have been affecting the Dunajec drainage basin (Polish West Carpathians) since the Sarmatian. The amount and intensity of these movements varied considerably, attaining in the Quaternary 100 – 160 m.

Quaternary tectonics of the Outer West Carpathians, Poland
Tectonophysics, 1998Abstract Quaternary tectonic activity in the Polish segment of the Outer West Carpathians has been relatively weak and can be reconstructed on the basis of indirect evidence, provided by geomorphological mapping, the construction of various morphometric maps based on mathematical transformation of the present-day topography, and the use of some ...

Late Cretaceous deformation of the Pieniny Klippen Belt, West Carpathians
Tectonophysics, 1994Abstract The Late Cretaceous position and dynamics of the Pieniny Klippen Belt of the West Carpathians, which lies behind the Palaeogene flysch accretionary prism, are reconstructed. As shown by the reconstruction, based on structural, sedimentological and palaeomagnetic data, the Pieniny Klippen Belt occupied a WNW-ESE to NW-SE trending zone during ...

Origin of barite concretions in the West Carpathian flysch, Poland
Chemical Geology, 1999Abstract The Paleogene concretions occurring in the Sub-Silesian nappe of the West Carpathians were investigated to understand their origin and evolution. They were considered previously to be of hydrothermal origin. Three types of concretions were found in marls: (1) phosphorite impregnated, (2) barite impregnated and (3) composed of the mixed types.

Temporal and seasonal changes in mercury accumulation in Tatra chamois from West Carpathians
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2021The main aim of this study was to determine the concentration of total mercury (T-Hg) in different tissues, hair, and faeces from a long-lived animal that actively lives in the subalpine and alpine zone within temperate climate zone throughout the year.

Kinematics of the Alpine–West Carpathian orogen and palaeogeographic implications
Journal of the Geological Society, 2001We present the Euler rotations of the plates involved in the Alpine–West Carpathian orogen. The rotations are defined to a large extent by the magnetic anomalies of the Atlantic Ocean. A few extra rotations occurred during two collisions and a Mid-Cretaceous event.

Mercury contamination of the snow voles (Chionomys nivalis) in the West Carpathians
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2019The subject of this research is mercury pollution in the alpine zone of the High Tatra Mountains (the West Carpathians). The snow vole (Chionomys nivalis) was chosen as a bioindicator. Mercury concentrations in the tail tips from captured individuals were examined. The samples were collected over the span of 2 years, from May 2016 to November 2017. The

The depth and the origin of the West Carpathian gravity low
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1979Detailed gravity survey of the Czechoslovak Carpathians has shown that the regional negative gravity (at least some part of it) is unusually shallow there. As for the depth of the main body, responsible for the West Carpathian gravity minimum, the results are presented of a maximum depth calculation (upper bounds).

Nardo-Agrostion communities in the Krkonoše and West Carpathians Mts.
Folia Geobotanica et Phytotaxonomica, 1990The montaneNardus-rich acidophilous meadows occurring in the Krkonose and W. Carpathians Mts. were evaluated. They are classified intoNardo-Agrostion tenuisSillinger 1933. Five associations were distinguished:Sileno-Nardetum, Homogyno-Nardetum, Hieracio Lachenalii-Nardetum, Phleo alpini-Nardetum, andRanunculo nemorosi-Nardetum, the first occuring in ...

Carbonate Rhombohedra in Nodular Cherts: Mesozoic of the West Carpathians
SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1993ABSTRACT Carbonate rhombohedra have been Found in a majority of chert nodules examined. In limestones, they are calcite, sometimes accompanied by a small quantity of dolomite, Fe-dolomite and ankerite; in dolostones only dolomite was found within the cherts.
