Whole‐genome sequencing reveals novel ryanodine receptor mutations P4568L and Y4701D conferring high‐level chlorantraniliprole resistance in Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 1, Page 815-824, January 2026.
Whole‐genome sequencing identified novel ryanodine receptor mutations P4568L and Y4701D causing >1000‐fold chlorantraniliprole resistance in Spodoptera litura, enabling development of molecular diagnostics for proactive resistance management. Abstract BACKGROUND Spodoptera litura is a significant insect pest that attacks many agricultural crops ...

Efficacy and Phytotoxicity of Sulfur Dioxide Fumigation for Postharvest Control of Western Flower Thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), on Select Fresh Fruit and Vegetables

open access: yesAgriculture
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) fumigation was evaluated for efficacy against western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis) and phytotoxicity to four select fresh fruits and vegetables. Western flower thrips were found to be very susceptible to SO2 fumigation.

Effect Of Orius insidiosus (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) And Spinosad (Conserve®) On Western Flower Thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), Populations In Transvaal Daisy Flowers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Western flower thrips (WFT), Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), is a major insect pest of greenhouse-grown horticultural crops. Greenhouse producers typically apply insecticides to suppress WFT populations.

Thrips domiciles protect larvae from desiccation in an arid environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Desiccation is a particular risk for small animals in arid environments. In response, many organisms “construct niches,” favorable microenvironments where they spend part or all of their life cycle. Some maintain such environments for their offspring via

Transfer and biological effects of cadmium along a tomato – thrip – predatory bug food chain

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The heavy metal, cadmium (Cd) is an increasingly serious issue in agricultural ecosystems, mediating bottom-up effects on plants, herbivores and natural enemies. We measured how Cd modifies interactions between tomato Solanum lycopersicum, western flower
