The Scalability of Wet Ball Milling for The Production of Nanosuspensions
Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology, 2019Background: Miniaturization of nanosuspensions preparation is a necessity in order to enable proper formulation screening before nanosizing can be performed on a large scale. Ideally, the information generated at small scale is predictive for large scale production.

Contamination in wet-ball milling
Powder Metallurgy, 2017ABSTRACTThe top–down approach of mechanical ball milling/alloying is the most commonly adopted route towards materials development. It is however surprising that despite the large impact that it has, process induced contamination (particularly from process control agents (PCAs)), remains less studied and often ignored.

Effect of ball size and powder loading on the milling efficiency of a laboratory-scale wet ball mill
Ceramics International, 2013Abstract Alumina powder was wet-milled by zirconia balls with varying diameter at varying rotation speed, and the resultant particle size of the milled powder was analyzed. At a given rotation speed, there exists an optimum ball size to yield minimum particle size of alumina. The optimum ball diameter decreases as the rotation speed increases.

AbstractSimultaneous wet milling and enzymatic hydrolysis of newsprint in a ball mill reactor (BMR) and in an attrition mill reactor (AMR) were studied. The effect of milling on the enzyme deactivation was also investigated. Variables studied included milling media size, material, and the presence or absence of an air–liquid interface in the reactor ...

An investigation of wet grinding in a laboratory overflow ball mill
Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, 1989Batch breakage kinetic tests were performed in a mill of 0.3 m diameter for a range of mill conditions. Accurate simulation required the measurement and use of factors which accelerated the specific rates of breakage of the top sizes as finer material accumulated in the slurry.

An overfilling indicator for wet overflow ball mills
Minerals Engineering, 2016The lack of constraints in ball mill capacity in the published ball mill models may result in unrealistic predictions of mill throughput. This paper presents an overfilling indicator for wet overflow discharge ball mills. The overfilling indicator is based on the slurry residence time in a given mill and given operational conditions.

Kinetics of fine wet grinding in a laboratory ball mill
Powder Technology, 2001Abstract The kinetics of batch wet grinding of quartz from a feed of 600×425 μm to a product of 80% less than 8 μm have been determined using sieving and laser diffractometer sizing for size analysis. A dispersing agent was added while proceeding to longer grinding times to prevent particle agglomeration in the mill.

Grinding kinetics of quartz and chlorite in wet ball milling
Powder Technology, 2017Abstract Under an invariant and self-similar mill environment, batch wet grinding studies were carried out by grinding mono-sized fractions of quartz, chlorite and their binary mixture at different blending ratios. The results obtained indicate that the breakage behavior of both minerals as well as their mixture followed a first-order model.
