Wet comminution of raw salt using high-pressure fluid jet technology

Powder Technology, 2005
Based on the impact mechanism and fluid wedge effect of the high-pressure fluid jet, a new approach to raw salt comminution has been worked out. The fluid jet comminution process has a unique characteristic of providing a fine appearance for the product particle as well as a high washing efficiency.

Production of sub-micron particles by wet comminution in stirred media mills

Journal of Materials Science, 2004
A joined research project between the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Technical University of Munchen investigates the possibilities for the production of stable product suspensions in a particle size range smaller than 100 nm. In this paper results for comminution of fused corundum showing the influence of the electrostatic stabilization ...

Influence of surfactants on the mechanical properties and comminution of wet-milled calcite

Powder Technology, 1991
Abstract This paper reports the initial findings of an investigation to relate the influence of surfactants on the particle size distribution and rate of milling of calcite during wet milling. The results for calcite, milled with and without surfactants for a maximum of 72 h, are presented.

Guidelines to adjust particle size distributions by wet comminution of a bioactive glass determined by Taguchi and multivariate analysis

Ceramics International, 2019
Abstract A quaternary bioactive glass of high silica content was used as a model system for flexible design of powder characteristics obtained by ball milling. The dependence on milling time was used to demonstrate consistency with the expected correlation between comminution and cumulative kinetic energy of impacting balls.

Comminution of B4C powders with a high-energy mill operated in air in dry or wet conditions and its effect on their spark-plasma sinterability

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2017
Abstract The comminution of a typical submicrometre B4C powder with a high-energy mill (i.e., a shaker mill) operated in air in either a dry or a wet environment was investigated. It was found that dry shaker milling (i.e., high-energy ball-milling) is able to progressively refine the B4C particles to the nanoscale.

Wet comminution in stirred media mills — research and its practical application

Powder Technology, 1999
Abstract The importance of stirred media mills in various industries and in research is steadily increasing. The comminution process in these mills is determined mainly by the number of stress events in the grinding chamber and by the intensity acting at these stress events: for a certain stress intensity a certain relation between the product ...

Adaptation of the ball race mill technology for wet comminution aiming to reduce energy consumption

2023
Vertical Roller Mill (VRM) technology was developed more than four decades ago and has found applications mostly in cement grinding operations and in power plants for coal grinding. VRM technology has been well documented in literature to offer energy consumption reduction (from 15% to 30%) over conventional comminution units and circuits. These proven

Pathway Comparison of Comminution Energy Consumption from Wet Wood Chips to Dry Sub-mm Particles

2016 ASABE International Meeting, 2016
Abstract. This study compared multiple pathways to produce small (0.8mm GMD) wood particles from fuel-grade Douglas fir chips. Six pathways were selected representing two industry-standard hammermill pathways plus four that included rotary shearing of green chips before drying and final hammermilling.

Dolomite wet comminution in planetary ball mill

2007
Proces mokrog usitnjavanja često se koristi kako bi se u procesu usitnjavanja spriječilo aglomeriranje materijala. To će rezultirati znatnom uštedom energije i povećanjem učinka procesa. Reološko ponašanje suspenzija dobivenih u procesu mokrog usitnjavanja ovisi o nizu čimbenika: procesnim uvjetima (broj okretaja mlina, broj tijela za usitnjavanje ...

Suspension rheology during wet comminution in planetary ball mill

2006
Obtaining and controlling desirable suspension behavior in terms of rheology is important issue in many engineering problems. This research monitors rheological behavior of dolomite suspensions produced by wet comminution in planetary ball mill. Dolomite has a number of uses, in agriculture, steelmaking, glass making, ceramic industry, pharmaceutical ...
