Paper 16: Friction in Wet Clutches
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Conference Proceedings, 1967This paper is intended to demonstrate that designers of wet clutches for power transmission can obtain the optimum friction characteristics for specific applications by considering the interaction between friction materials and lubricants. A friction clutch plate rig is described and the friction results obtained are presented.

Contact properties of a wet clutch friction material
Tribology International, 2010Abstract Wet clutches are required to transmit torque and also prevent motion in automatic transmissions. Their performance is critically dependent on a friction material which comprises one of the contacting surfaces. Friction materials are usually a composite of fibres, naturally occurring minerals and particles of silicon and graphite, which are ...

Investigation of friction characteristic of wet clutch transmission oil
2020 3rd International Conference on Electron Device and Mechanical Engineering (ICEDME), 2020A test method for evaluating the friction characteristic of wet clutch transmission oil is presented. This method combines the actual combination characteristic of the wet clutch to design the energy density increasing experiment, and the experiment parameters fit the actual working conditions of the clutch. The real clutch is adopted, and the friction

Estimation of Wet Clutch Friction Parameters in Automotive Transmissions
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2015<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In this paper, a new algorithm for the off-line estimation of wet clutch friction parameters is proposed for automotive transmissions, motivated by the usefulness of such an algorithm for diagnosing the condition of the clutch and transmission fluid in service.

Wet Clutch Friction Interfaces under Water-Contaminated Lubricant Conditions
Tribology Transactions, 2016ABSTRACTThe performance of wet clutches used for automatic transmissions or other applications usually includes the desired positive friction characteristics and a shudder-free torque generation. Changes in the operating variables such as the lubricant conditions influence the formation of a tribofilm, and friction characteristics and can alter the ...

Modelling the influence of velocity on wet friction-element friction in clutches
Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 2018Purpose This study aims to establish a friction coefficient model relative to the rotation speed of a wet clutch engagement, which can predict friction coefficient under different stages of slipping velocity and different load pressures. In particular, the model has been improved by accounting the speed effect for the perdition of wet friction-element
