Instrumentation for wet steam

This paper is devoted to the measuring methods and instrumentation used in the wet-steam area for both aerodynamics measurements (pressure, temperature and velocity) taking into account the interaction between the vapour and the liquid phase, and the characterization of the liquid phase itself (dispersed phase and liquid film).

Wet Steam Flowrate Calibration Facility

Newly developed wet steam flowrate calibration facility is introduced. It has a closed loop in which boilers generate a steam flow up to 800 kg/h. Steam flow of known wetness up to 12% is generated by cooling down a dry steam flow by a heat exchanger. The wetness is calculated from the enthalpy the heat exchanger draws from the dry steam flow. Wet-steam erosion of steam turbine disks and shafts

A study of wet-steam erosion of the disks and the rotor bosses or housings of turbines in thermal and nuclear power plants shows that the rate of wear does not depend on the diagrammed degree of moisture, but is determined by moisture condensing on the surfaces of the diaphragms and steam inlet components.

Wave propagation in wet steam

Linear wave equations for equilibrium and subcooled wet steam are introduced in the paper, accounting for thermal and inertial relaxation processes between the vapour and droplets. Relations for sonic velocity and absorption were found to be frequency dependent.
