Tunable Wettability and Rewritable Wettability Gradient from Superhydrophilicity to Superhydrophobicity

Langmuir, 2010
A simple method for the fabrication of tunable surfaces with wettability that can be manipulated rapidly and reversibly from superhydrophilicity to superhydrophobicity is reported. A polyelectrolyte multilayer (PEM) was deposited on a rough substrate, and via ion exchange of the counterion in the PEM, the water contact angle of the surface was switched

Combined Wettable/Non-wettable Filter for Mist Purification

Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2001
Previous studies by Agranovski and Braddock [1] show that wettable filters are very efficient at collecting small liquid aerosols. However, a major problem associated with wettable filters is the breakthrough process associated with the destruction of film covering the fibres, and the removal of relatively large droplets by the carrier gas passing ...

A Review on Wettability Alteration in Carbonate Rocks: Wettability Modifiers

Energy & Fuels, 2019
More than half of the global oil reserves are in carbonate reservoirs. Carbonate rocks, however, in most cases tend to be mixed-wet or oil-wet.

Influence of the Wettability on the Boiling Onset

Langmuir, 2012
Experimental investigation of pool boiling is conducted in stationary conditions over very smooth bronze surfaces covered by a very thin layer of gold presenting various surface treatments to isolate the role of wettability. We show that even with surfaces presenting mean roughness amplitudes below 10 nm the role of surface topography is of importance.
