A Monte Carlo Model of Gas-Liquid-Hydrate Three-phase Coexistence Constrained by Pore Geometry in Marine Sediments

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
Gas hydrates form at relatively high pressures in near-surface, organic-rich marine sediments, with the base of the hydrate stability field and the onset of partial gas saturation determined by temperature increases with depth.

Study of Low Pressure Cold Plasma on Moisture Properties of Polyester Fabric [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و تکنولوژی پلیمر, 2007
Low temperature plasma technology is well established in surface modification of polymer materials on industrial scale. This method modifies surface properties of polymers without chemicals, manual work and reducing chemicals and energy consumption.

Superspreading Surfactant on Hydrophobic Porous Substrates

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces, 2023
The wetting behavior of droplets of aqueous surfactant solutions over hydrophobic thin PVDF porous membrane and non-porous hydrophobic PVDF film is investigated for small (~10 μL) droplets of aqueous trisiloxane surfactant solutions: superspreader S 240.

Spatiotemporal Comparison of Drought in Shaanxi–Gansu–Ningxia from 2003 to 2020 Using Various Drought Indices in Google Earth Engine

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
As a common natural disaster, drought can significantly affect the agriculture productivity and human life. Compared to Southeast China, Northwest China is short of water year-round and is the most frequent drought disaster area in China.

Adaptive Wetting—Adaptation in Wetting [PDF]

open access: yesLangmuir, 2018
Many surfaces reversibly change their structure and interfacial energy upon being in contact with a liquid. Such surfaces adapt to a specific liquid. We propose the first order kinetic model to describe dynamic contact angles of such adaptive surfaces. The model is general and does not refer to a particular adaptation process.

The Contact Angle Hysteresis Puzzle

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces, 2022
This short review explains the essence of the theory of contact angle hysteresis. It emphasizes the controversial points and discusses the shortcomings of contact angle hysteresis measurements.

Grain Boundary Wetting by the Second Solid Phase: 20 Years of History

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Grain boundaries (GBs) can be wetted by a second phase. This phase can be not only liquid (or melted), but it can also be solid. GB wetting can be incomplete (partial) or complete.

High temperature wettability and oxidation behavior of TiN, Ti–Al–N and Ti–Si–N PVD film

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
In aluminium cutting and die casting, tools are exposed to Built UP Edge (BUE) and Built Up Layer (BUL) and erosion due to the frequent contact of the tool surface to the aluminum alloy, to oxidation due to high temperatures.

Miniaturized Wet-Wet Differential Pressure Sensor

open access: yes2022 IEEE Sensors, 2022
We report a miniaturized wet-wet differential pressure sensor with applications in pressure and flow sensing in water networks and other harsh environments. The device is similar in concept to a conventional wet-wet differential pressure sensor in that the sensing element is protected from the external environment by oil-filled cavities closed off by ...
