Corrugation-Induced First-Order Wetting: An Effective Hamiltonian Study
We consider an effective Hamiltonian description of critical wetting transitions in systems with short-range forces at a corrugated (periodic) wall. We are able to recover the results obtained previously from a `microscopic' density-functional approach ...

Structurally Colored Physically Unclonable Functions with Ultra‐Rich and Stable Encoding Capacity
This study reports a design strategy for generating bright‐field resolvable physically unclonable functions with extremely rich encoding capacity coupled with outstanding thermal and chemical stability. The optical response emerges from thickness‐dependent structural color formation in ZnO features, which are fabricated by physical vapor deposition ...

Fibre level modelling of free water behaviour during wood drying and wetting
Most drying simulation models describe the moisture migration in wood as a diffusion process, including free water flow at contents greater than the fibre saturation point. This means that wood is seen as a homogeneous material lacking internal structure.

We report studies of the wetting behavior of Ne on very weakly attractive surfaces, carried out with the Grand Canonical Monte Carlo method. The Ne-Ne interaction was taken to be of Lennard-Jones form, while the Ne-surface interaction was derived from an

A biofabricated 3D in vitro model recapitulating endochondral ossification (ECO) is described, mimicking the steps from condensation to chondrogenesis and hypertrophy, culminating with vascularization of the hypertrophic construct. As a model proof of concept application, Ewing Sarcoma cells are seeded in the model, showing modifications in their ...

Active Thermal Field Integration for Marangoni‐Driven Salt Rejection and Water Collection
A thermal gradient fabric (TGF) evaporator with an auxiliary active thermal field can simultaneously increase evaporation rates and achieve long‐term salt rejection. The auxiliary active thermal field is well integrated with solar energy to construct moderate, extensive, and circulating Marangoni flow for salt rejection.

Evaluation of the wettability of the filler binder during the manufacture of prepreg with ultrasound exposure for three-dimensional printing filaments reinforced with continuous carbon fiber [PDF]
Background and Objectives: The aim of the research is to study the effect of ultrasound on the wettability of carbon fibers with a thermosetting binder and to determine the work of adhesion in the binder-fiber contact as part of the filament prepreg for ...
