The effect of substrate roughness on air entrainment in dip coating
YesDynamic wetting failure was observed in the simple dip coating flow with a series of substrates, which had a rough side and a comparatively smoother side.

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Wetting considerations in capillary rise and imbibition in closed square tubes and open rectangular cross-section channels [PDF]
The spontaneous capillary-driven filling of microchannels is important for a wide range of applications. These channels are often rectangular in cross-section, can be closed or open, and horizontal or vertically orientated.

Wetting Behavior of Zirconia Nanotubes
In this work, we investigate the wettability of ZrO2 nanotubes (ZrNT) synthesized via electrochemical anodization of Zirconium. The ZrNT surface shows superhydrophilic behavior while the octadecylphosphonic acid (C18H37PO(OH)2) modified surface shows ...

Printing wet-on-wet: Attraction and repulsion of drops on a viscous film [PDF]
Wet-on-wet printing is frequently used in inkjet printing for graphical and industrial applications, where substrates can be coated with a thin liquid film prior to ink drop deposition. Two drops placed close together are expected to interact via deformations of the thin viscous film, but the nature of these capillary interactions is unknown.

ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

The main characteristic of the wet plain of Veneto Region is the impermeable condition of its soil. The landscape is the result of the reclaimed land of an ancient lagoon. The water management is mainly via the ground through the existing system of wells (that hasten the salinisation of the underground water); the drainage system includes channels that
