In Situ Crystalline‐Amorphous Composite Oxide Structure Suppressing Thermal Wear Instability for Refractory Multi‐Principal Element Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An effective strategy is developed to overcome the medium temperatures wear resistance degradation in refractory multi‐principal element alloys. By utilizing chemical short‐range ordering to trigger oxygen‐induced amorphization, a composite oxide structure is formed, which combines high hardness with robust stiffness.

Synergistic Cu‐Fe Interactions Enhance Phase Transformation Kinetics Toward High‐Performance CuFeS2‐Based All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
CuFeS2 is found to induce the formation of intermediate phases, highlighting a strong Cu–Fe synergistic effect during conversion reactions in lithium all‐solid‐state batteries (Li‐SSBs). The integrated reaction pathway effectively suppresses phase separation and accelerates reaction kinetics, leading to enhanced electrochemical reversibility and ...

Pied-piping in wh-questions:What do children say about it? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Errors/non-target responses characterizing sub-extraction of a wh-phrase from complex DPs in child speech are found in first language acquisition studies (van Kampen 1997 among others) and have provided the basis for arguing the complexity of question ...

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Correlations between island (in)sensitivity and base positions of (non-)standard wh-in-situ

open access: yes, 2021
It has been well-accepted in the literature that the island (in)sensitivity of wh-in-situ falls under the so-called Noun versus Adverb Generalization (NAG), which states that an in-situ wh-phrase is island-free iff it is (or contains) a wh-nominal (Tsai ...

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

What would Wh-in-situ be Like in Phase Theory? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
[[abstract]]This paper is an attempt to reformulate the theories on wh-constructions under the framework of phase theory. The wh-in-situ phenomena have raised several issues that have not been adequately explained.

Wh‐ in‐situ, from the 1980s to Now

open access: yesLanguage and Linguistics Compass, 2009
Abstract This article provides an overview of the issues and proposals surrounding wh ‐in‐situ since the 1980s. In particular, it discusses the question of whether or not in‐situ wh ‐phrases undergo covert wh
