Optical humidity sensor based on a liquid whispering-gallery mode resonator [PDF]

We experimentally demonstrate the use of a novel liquid state, whispering-gallery-mode optical resonator as a highly sensitive humidity sensor. The optical resonator used consists of a droplet made of glycerol, a transparent liquid that enables high optical quality factor, doped with rhodamine 6G, which acts as fluorescent emitter.

Mode selection for a whispering gallery mode resonator

An original mode selection for a sapphire whispering gallery mode resonator (WGMR) is reported. A set of metallic lines are deposited directly on the top of the sapphire disk. The position and the width of these lines was chosen to modify the boundary conditions of the undesirable modes without affecting the main resonance.

Broad spectral response photodetector based on individual tin-doped CdS nanowire

High purity and tin-doped 1D CdS micro/nano-structures were synthesized by a convenient thermal evaporation method. SEM, EDS, XRD and TEM were used to examine the morphology, composition, phase structure and crystallinity of as-prepared samples.

Lasing of whispering gallery modes in optofluidic microcapillaries

This paper demonstrates lasing of the whispering gallery modes in polymer coated optofluidic capillaries and their application to refractive index sensing. The laser gain medium used here is fluorescent Nile Red dye, which is embedded inside the high refractive index polymer coating. We investigate the refractometric sensing properties of these devices
