Circulating homocysteine levels in sustained and white coat hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Although white coat hypertension has been widely studied in the last years, its risk profile is not yet completely clear. The aim of this study was to evaluate circulating homocysteine levels, an emerging cardiovascular risk factor, in subjects with ...

[[alternative]]White coat hypertension is more risky than prehypertension Important role of arterial wave reflections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
[[abstract]]Arterial aging may link cardiovascular risk to white coat hypertension (WCH). The aims of the present study were to investigate the role of arterial aging in the white coat effect, defined as the difference between office and 24-hour ...

A Brain‐Penetrant Nanobody Reveals GSK3β‐Driven Proline‐Directed Phosphorylation as a Master Regulator of Ischemic Neurodegeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A brain‐targeted nanoparticle enables delivery of a therapeutic nanobody (Nb.29E9) that inhibits pathogenic GSK3β signaling. This intervention restores AMPK/mTORC1/TGFβ homeostasis, attenuates neuroinflammation and oxidative stress, and promotes long‐term functional recovery after ischemic stroke.

Renal sodium handling in patients with untreated hypertension and white coat hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Renal tubular sodium handling was investigated prospectively in 48 normotensive subjects, 53 untreated hypertensive patients, and 13 patients with white coat hypertension using endogenous trace lithium as a marker of proximal sodium reabsorption.

Sympathetic neural mechanisms in white-coat hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
ObjectivesThis study planned to establish whether sympathetic hyperactivity exists in white-coat hypertension (WHT) in the clinical setting, relative to matched groups with normotension (NT) and untreated essential hypertension (EHT).BackgroundWhite-coat

Large‐scale Whole‐Exome Sequencing Defines the Protein‐Coding Architecture of Retinal Structure, Visual Function, and Major Blinding Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Large‐scale whole‐exome sequencing in 356,982 UK Biobank participants defines the protein‐coding architecture of retinal structure, visual function, and major blinding diseases. Pleiotropic genes, including CFI, C3, and RIOX1, bridge multiple retinal phenotypes, while experimental validation of FYB2 implicates RPE barrier dysfunction, providing ...
