Cataract in the West Highland White Terrier

ABSTRACTCataracts were found in 49 of 97 interrelated West Highland White Terriers. Thirty‐four dogs exhibited a ‘y’ suture cataract, mainly affecting the tips of the posterior ‘y’ suture line, while 12 dogs had complete cataracts. An autosomal recessive inheritance is surmised.
