Enhancement of stability in randomly switching potential with metastable state

open access: yes, 2004
The overdamped motion of a Brownian particle in randomly switching piece-wise metastable linear potential shows noise enhanced stability (NES): the noise stabilizes the metastable system and the system remains in this state for a longer time than in the ...

Vibration Noise Modeling for Measurement While Drilling System Based on FOGs

open access: yesSensors, 2017
Aiming to improve survey accuracy of Measurement While Drilling (MWD) based on Fiber Optic Gyroscopes (FOGs) in the long period, the external aiding sources are fused into the inertial navigation by the Kalman filter (KF) method.

Assessment of noise in time series analysis for Buoy tide observations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Maritime Technology, 2020
To extract valid results from time series analysis of tides observations, noise reduction is vital. This study aimed to use a precise statistical model to investigate noise types.

On operators of stochastic differentiation on spaces of regular test and generalized functions of Lévy white noise analysis

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2014
The operators of stochastic differentiation, which are closely related with the extended Skorohod stochastic integral and with the Hida stochastic derivative, play an important role in the classical (Gaussian) white noise analysis.

Denoising Analysis of Partial Discharge Acoustic Signal Based on SVMD-PCA

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering, 2023
Partial discharge (PD) acoustic signal detection is one of the effective means to assess the insulation status of power transformers. In actual monitoring, white noise is likely to cause strong interference to the partial discharge acoustic signal of the

Inhomogeneity of the phase space of the damped harmonic oscillator under Levy noise

open access: yes, 2012
The damped harmonic oscillator under symmetric L\'{e}vy white noise shows inhomogeneous phase space, which is in contrast to the homogeneous one of the same oscillator under the Gaussian white noise, as shown in a recent paper [I. M. Sokolov, W. Ebeling,

Logarithmic Gradient Transformation and Chaos Expansion of Ito Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Since the seminal work of Wiener, the chaos expansion has evolved to a powerful methodology for studying a broad range of stochastic differential equations. Yet its complexity for systems subject to the white noise remains significant.

Extraction of Partial Discharge Pulses from the Complex Noisy Signals of Power Cables Based on CEEMDAN and Wavelet Packet

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
While both periodic narrowband noise and white noise are significant sources of interference in the detection and localization of partial discharge (PD) signals in power cables, existing research has focused nearly exclusively on white noise suppression.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
