Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...

Adaptive Filtered-x Least Mean Square Algorithm to Improve the Performance of Multi-Channel Noise Control Systems

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications
This paper proposes an optimized control filter (OCF) based on the Filtered-x Least Mean Square (FxLMS) algorithm for multi-channel active noise control (ANC) systems. The proposed OCF-McFxLMS algorithm delivers three key contributions.

The Stochastic Stability of Internal HIV Models with Gaussian White Noise and Gaussian Colored Noise

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2019
In this paper, the stochastic stability of internal HIV models driven by Gaussian white noise and Gaussian colored noise is analyzed. First, the stability of deterministic models is investigated.

Three‐Dimensional Anomalous Hall Sensing Enabled By Spin–Orbit Torque Driven Domain Reconfiguration In Chiral Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A three‐dimensional magnetic field sensor is realized in chiral W/CoFeB/MgO multilayers, where spin–orbit torques reversibly reconfigure homochiral stripe domains. The symmetry of the torque enables offset‐free in‐plane sensing, while the reproducible domain reconfiguration extends the linear out‐of‐plane range. An anomalous Hall readout delivers large‐

Predicting blink rate and pupil diameter from ADHD symptoms: Effects of white noise stimulation in an experimental study

open access: yesBrain Disorders
Background: Children with ADHD are reported to have lower dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) levels compared to typically developing children. We exploratively investigated how blink rate and pupil diameter, which are considered to be proxies for DA ...

Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Giant Magnetic Coercivity Driven by Spin‐Bag Ferromagnetism in Epitaxial Sr3YCo4O10+δ Films with Engineered 2D Oxygen Vacancy Ordering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A giant magnetic coercivity and a vertical shift of hysteresis loops are demonstrated in Sr3YCo4O10+δ epitaxial films. The hard magnetic behavior originates from ferromagnetic spin bags stabilized within a long‐range ordered oxygen‐vacancy structure.

Tuning Redox Dynamics in Cu‐Based Electrocatalysts: Effect of Secondary Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Advanced analysis of operando X‐ray absorption spectroscopy data reveals that secondary metals affect the redox processes in Cu‐based catalysts for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction. This influences the amount of oxides formed under pulsed reaction conditions and the distribution of reaction products.
