Matched subspace detection with hypothesis dependent noise power [PDF]
We consider the problem of detecting a subspace signal in white Gaussian noise when the noise power may be different under the null hypothesis—where it is assumed to be known—and the alternative hypothesis.

Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

A novel method based on directionlet transform is proposed for image denoising under Bayesian framework. In order to achieve noise removal, the directionlet coefficients of the uncorrupted image are modeled independently and identically by a two-state ...

The Stochastic Resonance Phenomenon of Different Noises in Underdamped Bistable System
In this paper, the stochastic resonance (SR) phenomenon of four kinds of noises (the white noise, the harmonic noise, the asymmetric dichotomous noise, and the Lévy noise) in underdamped bistable systems is studied.

Linear independence of the renormalized higher powers of white noise [PDF]
The connection between the Lie algebra of the Renormalized Higher Powers of White Noise (RHPWN) and the centerless Virasoro (or Witt)-Zamolodchikovw∞ Lie algebras of conformal field theory, as well as the associated Fock space construction, have ...

Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Depleted field effect transistors (DEPFET) are used to achieve very low noise signal charge readout with sub-electron measurement precision. This is accomplished by repeatedly reading an identical charge, thereby suppressing not only the white serial ...

Don DeLillo’s "White Noise": A Virilian Perspective [PDF]
Don DeLillo’s White Noise depicts a world of rapid techno-scientific and economical changes. Paul Virilio’s concepts of dromology and speed, as well as his notions of accident and technology, seem to be the most relevant in order to examine a novel ...
