Diet‐Induced Developmental and Morphological Plasticity in a Thelytokous Predatory Mite Amblyseius herbicolus (Chant) (Acari: Phytoseiidae)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
This study investigated how variation in prey consumption influences immature development and adult morphometric traits in the predatory mite Amblyseius herbicolus. Mites that ate more prey attained a larger size at maturity but did not develop more rapidly. Several morphometric traits were also significantly influenced by diet.

Climate Change Drives the Distribution of Insect Vectors for GLRaV‐3 on a Global Scale

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
The distribution range of seven insect vectors of GLRaV‐3 were predicted by MaxEnt model. Thermal conditions were a vital factor constraining the potential distribution ranges of all vector insects. Centroid shifts suggested that the potential distribution range of soft scale will move northward under climate change. Our study provides implications for

Proteolytic stabilization of a spider venom peptide results in an orally active bioinsecticide

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 10, Page 6404-6415, October 2025.
Selective editing out of an insect gut protease cleavage site renders a spider‐derived insecticidal peptide active by ingestion by insect pests. Abstract BACKGROUND The toxin peptide U1‐AGTX‐Ta1b from the Hobo spider, Eratigena agrestis (Walckenaer, 1802), was studied to determine its potential to serve as a bioinsecticide.

Side effects of pesticides used in organic and conventional tomato crops on Dolichogenidea gelechiidivoris, a parasitoid of Tuta absoluta

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 10, Page 6445-6454, October 2025.
This study reveals strong variability in the effects of eight tomato integrated pest management‐compatible pesticides on Dolichogenidea gelechiidivoris, identifying harmful compounds such as spinosad and more selective ones such as sulfur and spiromesifen, depending on the exposure route.

The Endosymbiont Consortia of Two Cixiidae Planthoppers Reveal an Ancient Symbiosis With ‘Candidatus Mirabilia Symbiotica’

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2025.
Many insects harbour ancient beneficial endosymbionts that produce essential nutrients. Two planthopper species from the Cixiidae family harbour different tripartite endosymbiont consortia, including a previously unknown and likely ancient Gammaproteobacterium in addition to Karelsulcia and Vidania.
