De Novo Reconstruction of Transcriptome Identified Long Non-Coding RNA Regulator of Aging-Related Brown Adipose Tissue Whitening in Rabbits

open access: yesBiology, 2021
Brown adipose tissues (BATs) convert to a “white-like” phenotype with age, which is also known as “aging-related BAT whitening (ARBW)”. Emerging evidence suggested that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) were widely involved in adipose biology.

Dual Randomness From Spatial and Temporal Variations in Stochastic Zinc Gallate Nanoclusters for PUF and TRNG Co‐Driven Image Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A dual‐randomness hardware platform is demonstrated by integrating PUF and TRNG functionalities into mixed‐ZGO nanoclusters. By leveraging spatial and temporal stochasticity, the mixed‐ZGO NCs device enables both unique identification and random signal generation.

Optimal whitening and decorrelation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Whitening, or sphering, is a common preprocessing step in statistical analysis to transform random variables to orthogonality. However, due to rotational freedom there are infinitely many possible whitening procedures.

Temperature Dependence of Space Charge Retention in Bulk Acrylic

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The temperature dependence of space charge stability in electron‐charged bulk acrylic is probed by thermal manipulation. Charge carrier mobility is observed to be phonon‐dependent, which can be restricted indefinitely below a critical temperature.

The Double-Edged Nature of Whiteness for Multiracial People with White Ancestry in the US and UK

open access: yesGenealogy
The privileges of Whiteness have been theorized and debated for some decades. Because White privilege has been manifested, historically, in myriad forms, it has been possible to treat the privileges of Whiteness as a given, even when its changing ...

Cross‐Organ Multi‐Omics Profiling of Systemic Alterations in 5xFAD Mice and Changes Associated with Huanglian Jiedu Decoction Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cross‐organ multi‐omics reveals coordinated inflammatory and metabolic disturbances in 5xFAD mice. Huanglian Jiedu Decoction improves cognition and alleviates brain and liver abnormalities. Complementary hepatocyte–microglia conditioned‐medium experiments suggest PPAR‐γ involvement in treatment‐associated changes in microglial inflammation, providing ...

Autonomous Charging and Battery Swapping for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This review evaluates major autonomous charging and battery swapping methods for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against a single question: how close each is to sustained unattended operation. Rather than ranking them by charging performance, it identifies the limitation that most restricts each method, and briefly outlines the supporting technologies ...

Lagomorph cranial biomechanics and the functional significance of the unique fenestrated rostrum of leporids

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The crania of leporid lagomorphs are uniquely fenestrated, including the posterior cranial bones and the lateral portion of the maxilla. The functional significance of the highly fenestrated rostrum has received considerably little attention, despite being absent in other mammalian herbivores with a long rostrum.
