Vegetation biomass and landscape context influence web‐building spider dietary breadth in urban vacant lots

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 126-140, February 2026.
Spider dietary breadth and overlap increased with imperviousness, suggesting that prey and spiders are concentrating in vacant lots in these landscapes. Higher vegetation biomass, which results from reduced mowing frequency, was associated with increased dietary breadth and shared prey between spiders.

Environmental Filtering Correlates More Strongly With Taxonomic and Functional Beta Diversity of Phytoplankton Assemblages Than Spatial Structuring in a High‐Altitude River–Lake System

open access: yesFreshwater Biology, Volume 71, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding overall beta diversity (βtotal) and its components—species replacement (βrepl) and richness difference (βrich)—is essential for disentangling the mechanisms that structure aquatic communities. However, it remains poorly understood how taxonomic and functional beta diversity correlate with environmental and spatial processes in ...

From Disciplinary Societies to Societies of Control: Foucault, Deleuze and the Care of People Under the Mental Health Review Board in Psychiatric Settings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mental Health Nursing, Volume 35, Issue 1, February 2026.

Expectation Effects Based on Newly Learnt Object‐Scene Associations Are Modulated by Spatial Frequency

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 63, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objects typically appear within rich visual scenes. By capitalizing on learnt statistical pairings between objects and scenes, the visual system can use scene information to generate predictions about objects likely to occur within a given environment.
