Teacher‐makers and teacher‐breakers: (Re)defining how status and safety influence trajectories into and away from teaching

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper uses empirical data from a longitudinal qualitative study conducted with aspirant teachers in England to propose (re)definitions of the concepts of ‘status’ and ‘safety’ as a framework with which to understand and improve teacher recruitment.

Inhomogeneous Whittaker Equation with Initial and Boundary Conditions

open access: yesMathematics
In this study, a semi-analytical solution to the inhomogeneous Whittaker equation is developed for both initial and boundary value problems. A new class of special integral functions Ziκ,μf(x), along with their derivatives, is introduced to facilitate ...

Heavy-hole bilayer trions of transition metal dichalcogenides by analytical treatment to model He-isoelectronic ions upto dipole factor of Green’s function expansion of Coulomb interaction

open access: yesPhysics Open, 2022
Electronic structures of heavy-hole trions and He-isoelectronic ions show dependence on transitions among two-electron bound states constituted of hydrogenic orbitals for which Coulomb (exchange) interaction causes nontrivial secular divergence to ...

Making teaching an attractive profession: What are the challenges and opportunities for minority ethnic teachers in England?

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper explores the challenges and opportunities surrounding the recruitment and retention of minority ethnic teachers in England. Drawing on interview data from 33 teachers and school leaders of diverse ethnic backgrounds, it investigates whether racialised barriers identified in earlier research have shifted in the current context of ...

Re‐thinking teachers' professional development: An analysis of National Professional Qualifications for school leaders in England

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This article considers how teachers' professional development could be redeveloped to help address the current crisis in teacher recruitment and retention by offering greater intellectual rigour and more opportunities for intellectual growth. Our analysis is focused on the UK government's current policy for leadership development in schools in

AdS2/CFT1, Whittaker vector and Wheeler-De Witt equation

open access: yes, 2015
We study the energy representation of conformal quantum mechanics as the Whittaker vector without specifying classical Lagrangian. We show that a generating function of expectation values among two excited states of the dilatation operator in conformal ...

Whittaker-Shintani functions for orthogonal groups

open access: yesTohoku Mathematical Journal, 2003
Paraphrasing from the authors' introduction: Let \(G=SO(m)\) be a split special orthogonal group of degree \(m=m'+r+1\), \(r\geq 0\), defined over a non-archimedean local field \(k\). Let \(Q\) be a parabolic subgroup of \(G\) whose Levi subgroup is isomorphic to \(SO(m'+1)\times GL(1)^r\), and let \(U\) be the unipotent radical of \(Q\).

The modulus of Whittaker functions [PDF]

open access: yesIntegral Transforms and Special Functions, 2020
The paper discusses some properties of the modulus $|W_{k,m}(z)|$ of the Whittaker function $W_{k,m}(z)$. In particular, completely monotone functions expressed in terms of $|W_{k,m}(z)|$ are found. The results follow from an integral representation for products of Whittaker functions due to Erdélyi (1938).

Development of Raman Spectroscopy and Machine Learning Methods for Protein Aggregate Quantification: Application to BSA in Chromatographic Processes

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Protein aggregation poses a significant risk to biopharmaceutical product quality, as even minor amounts of oligomeric species can compromise efficacy and safety. Rapid and reliable detection of protein aggregates thus remains a major challenge in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

A study of generalized Mittag-Leffler-type function of arbitrary order

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
We present a novel generalized Mittag-Leffler-type function of arbitrary order in this study. We look into its fundamental characteristics, such as differential formulas, recurrence relations, integral representations, the Euler, Laplace, Mellin ...
