The benefits of whole lung lavage in pulmonary alveolar proteinosis [PDF]
Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is an interesting, rare and enigmatic disease, which was first described relatively recently in 1958 1. The affected individuals suffer a progressive accumulation of lipoproteins in the alveolar space, resulting in steadily worsening gas exchange, and culminating in death from hypoxia and or cor pulmonale.

Scatter plots from all cases were categorized into four plot types. Cytologically negative cases mainly exhibited Small cluster (S‐type) and Horizontal (H‐type) patterns, whereas cytologically positive cases predominantly showed Vertical (V‐type) and Diagonal (D‐type) patterns.

Therapeutic Effect of Whole Lung Lavage on Pneumoconiosis
Pneumoconiosis as an occupational disease is a serious threat to the health of workers. Patients with pneumoconiosis are mainly engaged in dust-related work such as gold, coal, or iron mining, electric welding, or road work, and present with miliary nodules, fuse mass-like opacities, and cavity lesions on chest imaging.

Pulmonary surface-active materials in the Chediak-Higashi syndrome.
Beige mice express the Chediak-Higashi syndrome. Large inclusions, identified as abnormal lysosomes, are found in many cells. The inclusions in type II alveolar epithelial cells are enlarged lamellar bodies and they are associated with an increase in ...

Lung Injury Pathways: Adenosine Receptor 2B Signaling Limits Development of Ischemic Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia [PDF]
Purpose/Aim of the Study: Adenosine signaling was studied in bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) resulting from unilateral lung ischemia. Materials and Methods: Ischemia was achieved by either left main pulmonary artery or complete hilar

Antibiotic‐mediated immune modulation in periodontitis
Abstract Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the supporting structures of the teeth. Although initiated by dysbiotic microbial communities, its progression is largely driven by the host's uncontrolled inflammatory response. While antibiotics have conventionally been employed in periodontitis therapy for their antimicrobial ...

Abstract Exercise limitation is a cardinal feature of fibrotic interstitial lung disease arising from pulmonary gas exchange, respiratory mechanical and cardio‐circulatory abnormalities. More recently, it has been recognized that impairment in locomotor muscle function (e.g., reduced muscle mass/strength or heightened fatigability) might also play a ...

Immune system benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Abstract Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a respiratory disease characterized by pulmonary and systemic inflammation. Inflammatory mediators show relationships with shortness of breath, exercise intolerance and health related quality of life. Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR), a comprehensive education and exercise training programme, is the

Cannabinoid exposure during pregnancy: Cardiorespiratory effects and offspring outcomes
Abstract figure legend Prenatal exposure to cannabinoids has been investigated across human and animal studies to understand its impact on physiological development. Evidence suggests that early‐life cannabinoid exposure influence multiple developmental processes, extending beyond neurodevelopmental outcomes to potentially affect placental function ...
