Experimental Factors and Techniques for Pool Boiling Heat Transfer Enhancement: A Critical Review

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review presents a comprehensive assessment of active strategies for enhancing pool boiling heat transfer, with a focus on techniques that do not rely solely on the boiling surface modification. It examines a broad range of methodologies including fluid additives, external fields, mechanical interventions, and thermal‐geometric tuning that

Holocene sea‐level and environmental changes on the Isle of Mull, Scotland

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sea‐level and coastal changes are reconstructed on the Isle of Mull, western Scotland, from 10 988 to 10 507 cal BP to the present. This research has produced the first SLIP for the Isle of Mull. A multiproxy approach including pollen, spore, foraminifera and diatom analyses reveals palaeoenvironmental changes from two coastal sites.

Determination of Thermal Efficiency and Fuel Consumption Rate of a Pressure Cooker Fueled with Blends of Waste Vegetable Oil and Kerosene

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology
In Nigeria, before the removal of subsidy on kerosene in 2016, the product was accessible to low-income individuals and is intended to be used as a fuel for cooking, lighting, or heating. Recently, kerosene is rapidly vanishing from rural families and it

On the Wick product and Wong-Zakai approximations.

open access: yes, 2023
This thesis is a compilation of 6 papers that the author has written together with Alberto Lanconelli (chapters 3, 5 and 8) and Hyun-Jung Kim (ch 7). The logic thread that link all these chapters together is the interest to analyze and approximate the solutions of certain stochastic differential equations using the so called Wick product as the basic ...

Reconstructing post‐crisis recovery in the hinterlands of Constantinople: A high‐resolution first‐millennium CE pollen record from Lake Yeniçağa (NW Türkiye)

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Facing a novel plague pandemic, military invasions, and political–economic transformations, societies of the eastern Roman (Byzantine) empire had to adapt to a variety of pressures and new ways of exploiting their natural environments during the mid‐1st millennium CE.

Quantum Fields on Noncommutative Spacetimes: Theory and Phenomenology

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2010
In the present work we review the twisted field construction of quantum field theory on noncommutative spacetimes based on twisted Poincaré invariance.

Relationship between food quality and body size of common vole in different habitats

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The body size of the common vole in crop fields (alfalfa, rape, cereals) is larger than in less‐cultivated habitats (forests, clearings, set‐aside) and is not related to food quality. Abstract BACKGROUND There is a close relationship between habitat, food and demographic parameters of common vole populations.

Noncommutative field theory with the Wick-Voros product

open access: yes, 2008
We study the noncommutative scalar field theory in the presence of the Wick-Voros product (or normally ordered product), a variant of the more studied Moyal product. We discuss both the classical and the quantum field theory in the quartic potential case, and calculate the Green's functions up to one loop, for the two and four points cases.

Control failure risk, resistance and enzymatic activity of neurotoxic insecticides in Brazilian populations of Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Bioassays of 36 Leucoptera coffeella populations revealed resistance to neurotoxic insecticides, control failures of ≤62.9% and enzyme activity variation, with particularly high GST and low AChE levels. Abstract Background Leucoptera coffeella is a key pest of coffee crops in Brazil, causing significant damage by mining coffee leaves.
