Wide Swath Ocean Topography Mapping With Interferometric Altimeters

12th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium,, 2005
An interferometric radar altimeter is proposed to provide wide-swath high-resolution ocean topography. Several system design issues of such an interferometric altimeter are presented. Tradeoffs between processing of the interferometric signal using the so-called amplitude approach and the so-called phase approach are shown.

An Innovative Approach for the Calibration of Wide Swath Altimeters

IGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019
Wide Swath altimetry can produce high resolution images of global water surface height rapidly, and would play an important role in oceanography and hydrology. However, the sea surface height error is extremely sensitive to the roll angle of the platform. In this paper, an innovative approach to calibrate the roll-induced height error is proposed.

4DVAR Assimilation of simulated wide-swath altimeter data into a high resolution ocean model

2018
Abstract: this study examines the contribution of high resolution altimeter SSH observations from SWOT to the accuracy of the analysis and forecasting of a high resolution ocean model. Current altimeter data sampling of the ocean sea surface height is significantly limited in spatial density.

SWOT: new radar altimeter for internal solitary waves detection

Fourth International Conference on Geoscience and Remote Sensing Mapping
Launched on December 16, 2022, the SWOT satellite employs a wide-swath radar altimeter to monitor small-scale ocean dynamics, capturing submesoscale features at a spatial resolution of 15km. SWOT’s KaRIn instrument is capable of effectively capturing sea
