Wide color gamut display with white and emerald backlighting

Applied Optics, 2018
This paper proposes a wide color gamut approach that uses white and emerald lighting units as the backlight of the liquid crystal display. The white and emerald backlights are controlled by the image to be displayed. The mixing ratio of the white and the emerald lighting is analyzed so that the maximal color gamut coverage ratio can be achieved ...

Color gamut boundary optimization of wide gamut display devices

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
High-end monitors based on LCD technology increasingly address wide color gamut implementations featuring precise color calibration within a variety of different color spaces such as extended sRGB or AdobeRGB. Combining a Look- Up-Table method with linear interpolation in RGB component space using 3x3 matrix multiplication provides optimized means ...

A subjective evaluation of high-chroma color with wide color-gamut display

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
Displays tends to expand its color gamut, such as multi-primary color display, Adobe RGB and so on. Therefore displays got possible to display high chroma colors. However sometimes, we feel unnatural some for the image which only expanded chroma. Appropriate gamut mapping method to expand color gamut is not proposed very much.

Wide-color gamut multi-twist retarders

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
We show how highly chromatic Multi-Twist Retarder (MTR) films can be used to create a single-film color filter wherein the color may be selected only by the MTR orientation angle. By this approach, we can create multi- color images with just an MTR between polarizers.

Measuring color capability of wide color gamut near‐eye displays

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2021
AbstractNear‐eye displays often use narrow spectral bandwidth light sources to create virtual images. These sources provide wider color gamuts. However, the measurement instrument's spectral bandwidth and spectral stray light need to be considered. We evaluate these aspects in characterizing the display's color capability.

21.4: Primary Design of Wide‐Color‐Gamut Displays for Matching the Color Gamut of Objects

SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2007
Abstract The method for designing the primary color coordinates of the wide gamut display that its color gamut matches object color gamut the best is studied so that the display can reproduce object color the most vividly. The display with three monochromatic primaries is taken as an example.

Wide-Gamut Plasmonic Color Palettes with Constant Subwavelength Resolution

ACS Nano, 2019
Unlike dye-based colorants, for which dilution results in a decrease in color saturation, a reduction of nanostructure density in plasmonic prints could increase color saturation instead. This interesting observation can be explained by the absorption cross-section of the nanostructure being larger than its physical cross-section.

A Perception-Based Framework for Wide Color Gamut Content Selection

2018 25th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2018
Considering the content dependence of the perceived quality, selection of source content can significantly influence the results of studies related to Quality of Experience. In this paper, we propose an automated content selection method towards wide color gamut stimuli.

Wide-color-gamut and high-brightness WUXGA LCD monitor with color calibrator

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
Authors have developed a wide color gamut and high brightness WUXGA LCD monitor with color calibrator. This monitor uses three color LED, including red, green and blue, as the light source for the backlighting. This framework involves a problem that the chromaticity points of white color (white balance) shifts over time due to the changes in the ...

New Imaging and Display System for Wide Gamut Color Reproduction

2007 IEEE Industry Applications Annual Meeting, 2007
An imaging system consisting of an XYZ still camera and a liquid crystal display (LCD) with the adaptive matrix color conversion (AMCC) method implemented is proposed. The XYZ still camera is equipped with three optical filters that are designed to be equal to the color matching functions.
