Do Variations in State Consultation Programs Affect Construction Fatality Rates?

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, Volume 69, Issue 3, Page 163-176, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Along with its enforcement program, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has a voluntary consultation program that responds to requests from firms to identify hazards at their workplaces. We studied the effects of this program on fatal work injuries in the construction industry.

Depletion of Microglia Increases Cortical Oligodendrocyte Density During Remyelination

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
Cuprizone demyelination induces transient reactive states in deep cortical microglia (MG) through early recovery. Depleting MG in recovery increases the number of deep cortical mature/pre‐myelinating oligodendrocytes. Deep cortical reactive MG reduce oligodendrocyte density after demyelination.

Reliability of Ultrasonography to Assess Spinal Compression During Heavy Load Carriage

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
This study evaluated the reliability of ultrasonography to measure inter‐transverse process distances in the lumbar spine during standing load carriage. Eleven healthy adults underwent ultrasound assessments during unloaded and loaded standing conditions. Inter‐rater and test‐retest reliability were good to excellent (ICCs 0.81–0.99).

Ruth Glass: London's Gentrification Urban Visionary

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper analyses the contribution made by Ruth Glass to our understanding of gentrification and class change in London. It argues that not only was she remarkably ahead of her time in identifying and naming this important new phenomenon over 60 years ago, but that her discussion of the social and housing market impacts of gentrification ...

Segmented Gurney Flaps for Improved Wind Turbine Wake Recovery

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT When wind passes through the rotor of a wind turbine, the velocity is decreased while turbulence is increased. The region of decreased wind speed behind the rotor is known as the wind turbine wake and is bounded by a complex structure of helical vortices. This structure occurs to be more stable in low ambient turbulence and low tip speed ratio

Resource windfalls and political sabotage: Evidence from 5.2 million political ads

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, Volume 108, Issue 2, Page 630-664, March 2026.
Abstract We study the role of incentives in inducing sabotage in political contents, vis‐à‐vis natural resource windfalls. The latter induce plausibly exogenous increases in contests' stakes by extending opportunities for policy implementation or private gain upon winning and enhancing incumbent advantage.
