Wigner Distribution Functions

2002
A popular method to include quantum effects into the calculation of the characteristics of submicron devices is based on the Wigner functions. The underlying idea is that quantum transport can be catched into generalized transport equations that are in the spirit of the Boltzmann transport equation, suitable extended with terms that represent quantum ...

Wigner distribution and ambiguity function

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1980
The Wigner phase space distribution and the Woodward radar ambiguity function have each been optically realized in idealized situations. The realistic performance will be assessed under simulated noise and clutter. A general cross Wigner distribution and cross ambiguity function are also compared as to their advantage in signal analysis.

Image analysis through the Wigner distribution function

Applied Optics, 1989
The Wigner distribution (WD) for discrete images is computed and applied for texture analysis. First, the WD for different test images with spatial frequency and gray level information content is computed, and the most important features of the WD are outlined.

Wigner distribution function in nonlinear optics

Applied Optics, 1996
Transformation laws for the Wigner distribution function, the radiant intensity, the radiant emittance, and the first- and second-order moments of the Wigner distribution function through an inhomogeneous, Kerr-type medium have been derived as well as for the beam quality factor and the kurtosis parameter.

Wigner distribution function and optical geometrical transformation

Applied Optics, 1984
The Wigner distribution function is applied to optical geometrical transformations, which are implemented by the use of computer-generated holograms under coherent illumination.

Wigner distribution and reduced distribution functions

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1973
Some general properties of the equilibrium Wigner distribution function are discussed. An invariance law under Galilean transformation is obtained for systems with no external forces. The reduced distribution functions in configurational, momentum, and phase space are studied, with emphasis on the correlations of the velocities among themselves and ...
