Ixodid ticks parasitizing wild carnivores in Romania
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2017In Romania, data regarding hard-tick diversity and tick-host associations in wild carnivores are scarce. We aimed to identify tick species in wild carnivores and to establish reliable data on tick-host associations. The study was conducted in various Romanian localities from all five ecoregions found in the country.

Anaplasma phagocytophilum in Multiple Tissue Samples of Wild Carnivores in Romania
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 2021: Wild vertebrate hosts can serve as reservoirs or amplification hosts for tick-borne pathogens (TBPs). Wild carnivores due to their large size have an increased risk for harboring large numbers of ticks.

CARNIVORE PROTOPARVOVIRUS 1 (PARVOVIRUSES) AT THE DOMESTIC–WILD CARNIVORE INTERFACE IN INDIA
Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, 2020Carnivore protoparvovirus 1 (CP1, earlier called Feline panleukopenia virus) variants such as canine parvovirus (CPV) and feline parvovirus (FPV) are significant, emerging, multihost pathogens of domestic and wild carnivores. The diversity of CP1 variants was studied between 2008 and 2014 in Wayanad, India, where flagship wildlife species such as ...

Hepatozoon sp. in Wild Carnivores in Texas
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1988Twelve coyotes (Canis latrans), three bobcats (Lynx rufus) and six ocelots (Felis pardalis) from the Gulf Coast of Texas were infected with Hepatozoon sp. The geographic distribution of infected wild animals coincides with the highest prevalence of Hepatozoon canis infection in domestic dogs for which the wild species may act as a reservoir.

Serological Survey for Three Canine Viruses in Brazilian Wild Carnivores
EcoHealth, 2023We evaluated the presence of antibodies against CaHV-1, CDV, and CPV-2 in serum samples from Brazilian wild carnivore species. Nine maned wolves and six crab-eating foxes were tested for CaHV-1 and CDV by virus neutralization test and CPV-2 by hemagglutination inhibition assay. Antibodies to CaHV-1, CDV, and CPV-2 were detected in serum samples of 1 (6.

Stereotypic behavior in wild marine carnivores?
Zoo Biology, 2010AbstractStereotypic behavior is observed in many species within zoological institutions. Attempts to reduce such behavior typically involve some form of environmental enrichment that provides opportunities for species appropriate behavior or some degree of control within the environment.
