CARNIVORE PROTOPARVOVIRUS 1 (PARVOVIRUSES) AT THE DOMESTIC–WILD CARNIVORE INTERFACE IN INDIA
Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, 2020Carnivore protoparvovirus 1 (CP1, earlier called Feline panleukopenia virus) variants such as canine parvovirus (CPV) and feline parvovirus (FPV) are significant, emerging, multihost pathogens of domestic and wild carnivores. The diversity of CP1 variants was studied between 2008 and 2014 in Wayanad, India, where flagship wildlife species such as ...

Hepatozoon sp. in Wild Carnivores in Texas
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1988Twelve coyotes (Canis latrans), three bobcats (Lynx rufus) and six ocelots (Felis pardalis) from the Gulf Coast of Texas were infected with Hepatozoon sp. The geographic distribution of infected wild animals coincides with the highest prevalence of Hepatozoon canis infection in domestic dogs for which the wild species may act as a reservoir.

Ixodid ticks parasitizing wild carnivores in Romania
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2017In Romania, data regarding hard-tick diversity and tick-host associations in wild carnivores are scarce. We aimed to identify tick species in wild carnivores and to establish reliable data on tick-host associations. The study was conducted in various Romanian localities from all five ecoregions found in the country.

Angiostrongylus species in wild carnivores in the Iberian Peninsula
Veterinary Parasitology, 2010A survey of Angiostrongylus parasites was carried out between 2003 and 2006 in wild carnivore species in the Basque Country (Northern Spain). Parasitological examination consisted in the dissection of heart and lungs for the extraction of adult worms.

A coprological survey of parasites of wild carnivores in Ireland
Parasitology Research, 2013The increasing movement of people to wilderness areas, shrinking of wildlife habitats and the resulting urbanisation of wildlife has led to growing concerns about the transfer of parasitic diseases, particularly from contaminated faeces. Faecal samples from wild carnivores in Ireland were examined for the presence of protozoan and nematode parasites ...

Advances in Reproductive Science for Wild Carnivore Conservation
Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2009ContentsKnowledge about reproduction is critical for predicting the viability of wildlife populations in nature and for managing breeding programmes in captivity. Intensive species‐based studies are the priority, because reproductive mechanisms are extraordinarily diverse, even within the same taxonomic family. Carnivores deserve more attention as such

Abstract Human-wildlife conflict (HWC) at the fringes of protected areas is a major concern in the conservation biology. Although damage caused by carnivores and herbivores may vary in their magnitude, more attention has been given to carnivores due to various reasons.

Hepatozoon canis infection of wild carnivores in Brazil
Veterinary Parasitology, 1997Hepatozoon canis was diagnosed in a crab-eating fox (Cerdocyon thous) found on a highway in the region of Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil, after being hit by a car. The fox had bilateral fractures of the olecranon, which was corrected by osteosynthesis. Hematologic findings included a neutrophilia, eosinophilia, monocytosis and mild anemia. In the Leishman-

Ticks (Acari: Ixodida) on wild carnivores in Brazil
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2005The present study reports field data of ticks infesting wild carnivores captured from July 1998 to September 2004 in Brazil. Additional data were obtained from one tick collection and from previous published data of ticks on carnivores in Brazil. During field work, a total of 3437 ticks were collected from 89 Cerdocyon thous (crab-eating fox), 58 ...

Serological Survey for Three Canine Viruses in Brazilian Wild Carnivores
EcoHealth, 2023We evaluated the presence of antibodies against CaHV-1, CDV, and CPV-2 in serum samples from Brazilian wild carnivore species. Nine maned wolves and six crab-eating foxes were tested for CaHV-1 and CDV by virus neutralization test and CPV-2 by hemagglutination inhibition assay. Antibodies to CaHV-1, CDV, and CPV-2 were detected in serum samples of 1 (6.
