The rapid expansion of wild pigs (Sus scrofa) throughout the United States has been fueled by unlawful introductions, with invasive populations causing extensive crop losses, damaging native ecosystems, and serving as a reservoir for disease.

Wildlife species as reservoirs of infectious pathogens represent a serious constraint in the implementation of disease management strategies. In the Mediterranean island of Corsica, the dynamics of hepatitis E virus (HEV) and Aujeszky’s disease virus ...

Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) infection induces severe intestinal inflammation and acute diarrhea in piglets, yet the molecular mechanism remains incompletely understood. The M protein activates NLRP3 inflammasome through dual mechanisms: direct binding to the NLRP3 LRR domain and disruption of TRIM31‐mediated K48‐linked ubiquitination.

Deltacoronavirus Modulates circRNA cGLIS3 Metabolism to Evade Host Antiviral Response
This study reveals that both deltacoronavirus nucleocapsid protein and host RNA binding protein IGF2BP2 promote circular RNA GLIS3 (cGLIS3) biogenesis by binding to GLIS3 pre‐mRNA. The m6A modification‐mediated cGLIS3‐IGF2BP2 interaction weakens RNase L‐mediated degradation of cGLIS3 while facilitates a ubiquitin‐dependent degradation of IGF2BP2, thus ...

CuPB@HA is a CD44‐associated, plaque‐targeted nanozyme that alleviates oxidative stress, inflammation, and lipid accumulation in macrophages. By reducing CD36‐dependent lipid uptake and promoting ABCA1/ABCG1‐mediated cholesterol handling, it improves macrophage function, preferentially accumulates in atherosclerotic lesions, reduces plaque burden, and ...

The Notorious P.I.G.: wild pigs are not primary predators of wild turkey nests
Eastern wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) are one of the most socially and economically important big game species in North America. Given ongoing declines in eastern wild turkey population trajectories, considerable attention has been given ...

Opportunistic Predation of Wild Turkey Nests by Wild Pigs
ABSTRACTWild pigs (Sus scrofa; i.e., feral hogs, feral swine) are considered an invasive species in the United States. Where they occur, they damage agricultural crops and wildlife habitat. Wild pigs also depredate native wildlife, particularly ground‐nesting bird species during nesting season.

VlPAG/DRN Microglia Drive Neuropathic Pain‐Induced Depression via a Defined Neuroimmune Axis
Peripheral nerve injury (SNI) induces neuropathic pain, activates midbrain microglia, and triggers an NLRP3–IL‐1β–dependent inflammatory cascade. IL‐1β signals through IL‐1R1 on vlPAG/DRN VGLUT2+ neurons (vlPAG/DRNGlu), inducing hyperexcitability and driving the vlPAG/DRNGlu→BNSTGABA circuit to produce the affective component of neuropathic pain ...

In New Zealand, wild pigs acquire Mycobacterium bovis infection by scavenging tuberculous carrion, primarily carcasses of the main disease maintenance host, the brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula).
