Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) Germination and Emergence

Weed Science, 1995
Wild poinsettia germination was at least 95% when exposed to solution pH of 2.5 to 10 or solution osmotic potential of up to −0.8 MPa. No germination was observed at pH 12 or osmotic potential of −1.5 MPa. Light was not required for germination. Seed germinated at temperatures ranging from 20 to 40 C with maximum germination of 97% at 35 C.

Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) Interference by Peanut (Arachis hypogaea)

Weed Science, 1992
Research was conducted during 1988 and 1989 in Georgia and Florida to determine the densitydependent effects and critical periods of wild poinsettia interference with peanut. Peanut yield loss ranged from 0 to approximately 50% over the wild poinsettia density range from 0 to 32 plants 9 m−1peanut row.

Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) Control in Peanut (Arachis hypogaea)

Weed Science, 1990
Wild poinsettia control in peanut was evaluated following various preplant-incorporated and postemergence herbicide applications. The addition of vernolate or alachlor to a preplant-incorporated treatment of benefin improved wild poinsettia control obtained with treatments of lactofen or paraquat plus alachlor applied at the time of peanut emergence ...

Growth Response of Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) Following Foliar Herbicide Applications

Weed Technology, 1993
Greenhouse and field studies were conducted to characterize wild poinsettia growth response to imazaquin (140 g ai ha−1), fomesafen and acifluorfen (420 g ai ha−1), and chlorimuron (9 g ai ha−1) applied at 5 to 7 cm (POST1), 8 to 10 cm (POST2), and 15 to 20 cm (POST3). Based on reductions in weed height and lateral branch number 28 DAT, wild poinsettia

Interference of Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) with Soybean (Glycine max)

Weed Technology, 1994
Field-studies were conducted over two years to determine the area of influence and duration of interference of wild poinsettia in soybean. Soybean canopy width averaged across years was reduced approximately 10% beginning at 6 wk of interference for both the 0- to 10-and 10-to 20-cm distances from the weed.

Impact of environmental factors on seed germination and emergence of wild poinsettia (Euphorbia geniculata Ortega)

Crop Protection, 2018
Abstract Wild poinsettia (Euphorbia geniculata Ortega) is an annual noxious weed that is considered as a substantial problem in irrigated field crops and orchards in Israel. The effect of environmental factors on germination and emergence of a local wild poinsettia population was examined in growth chambers and greenhouse experiments, and its ...

Molecular evidence for repeated recruitment of wild Christmas poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) into traditional horticulture in Mexico

Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, 2018
One of Mexico’s most emblematic and economically important plants is the poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima). After nearly 200 years of poinsettia cultivation outside Mexico, more than 300 varieties of many different sizes, shapes and colors have been generated.

Wild Poinsettia, African Ebony and Ashanti Pepper: Potential Biofungicides Against Phytophthora colocasiae Raciborski

Journal of Experimental Agriculture International
Plant extracts could be used as substitutes to synthetic pesticides in the management of fungi and other plant pathogens. The biofungicidal potential of aqueous extracts of wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla L., a weed) and African ebony (Diospyros crassiflora Hiern, a tree) leaves, and Ashanti pepper (Piper guineense Schumach., a spice) seeds was

Evaluation of Genotoxic and Inhibitory Effects of Invasive Weed Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla Linn.) in Sunflower

Helia, 2015
AbstractDetermining the mode of action of allelochemicals is one of the challenging aspects in the allelopathic studies. In this research, the methanolic extracts of wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophyllaLinn.) at different concentrations (0, as untreated control, 8%, 12% and 16%) were tested for genotoxic and inhibitor activity on morphological ...

Growth and Development of Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) Selections in Peanut (Arachis hypogaea)

Weed Science, 1996
Wild poinsettia is a serious weed in several crops, including peanut, grown in the southeastern United States. A study was conducted over 3 yr at Jay, FL, to characterize the growth and development of wild poinsettia grown from seed collected at Plains, GA; Marianna, FL; and Baton Rouge, LA.
