The UK Clean Air Act at 70: An interdisciplinary analysis of historical air quality change
2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the first UK Clean Air Act, a pivotal moment for air quality in modern British history. Previous narratives on this legislation have largely centred on pollution in London and monodisciplinary perspectives. This article integrates historical research with reconstructed estimates of PM2.5 concentrations to spotlight ...

We staged dyadic interaction trials between two kangaroo rat species threatened by habitat loss to test whether one species dominates in direct interactions in the field. We found that Stephens’ kangaroo rat (Dipodomys stephensi) residents and intruders were dominant over Dulzura kangaroo rat (Dipodomys simulans). These results suggest that D. simulans

ABSTRACT Tree‐contact single‐phase‐to‐ground fault (TSF) is a common and hazardous type of failure in distribution networks. TSF is likely to occur when overhead conductors contact moist tree branches, potentially leading to insulation breakdown, posing serious threats to grid safety.

ABSTRACT High voltage equipment, as a core component of power systems, plays an indispensable role in ensuring the reliability of power supply through its safe and stable operation. Traditional visual defect detection for high voltage equipment, however, often relies on manual inspection and experience‐based judgement, which struggles to meet the ...

Using Structure‐from‐Motion photogrammetry in a longitudinal study, we show that although coral reef habitat complexity had declined significantly by the end of the most prolonged tropical marine heatwave on record, no further losses were detected and 3 years later the reef had begun to recover this critical ecosystem function.
