Estimating waterfowl breeding pair and brood densities using distance sampling with uncrewed aerial systems

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 1, January/March 2026.
Uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) equipped with thermal cameras are increasingly being used in wildlife research. Here, we explore the use of UAS paired with distance sampling to detect and estimate densities of waterfowl pairs and broods in Wisconsin.

Synchronous and Asynchronous Variation of Taxonomic and Phylogenetic Diversity During the Succession of Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis Forest in Yunnan, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Based on community data and the space‐for‐time‐substitution (SFTS) approach, this study shows that both taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity follow a cosine pattern during succession, with PD peaking earlier than TD. Community stability increases as niche differentiation strengthens, with competitive exclusion dominating early and late stages, and ...

Spectral Analysis of Certain Schrödinger Operators

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2012
The J-matrix method is extended to difference and q-difference operators and is applied to several explicit differential, difference, q-difference and second order Askey-Wilson type operators.

Development of Grid‐Based Population Projection Method: A Modified Cohort Component Approach Applied to South Korea

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study develops a method for downscaling population projections from municipalities to a 500 m grid level. The method adapts the cohort component approach, utilizing grid‐level age and gender population data as weights to distribute municipal‐level projections.

Microstructure Development in a New Generation S1300‐Type Ultrahigh‐Strength Structural Steel on Tempering

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 1, Page 524-542, January 2026.
Here, the microstructure evolution of a new generation ultrahigh‐strength S1300‐type structural steel has been investigated for direct‐quench and tempering route. Various stages of tempering are elucidated by thorough characterization, and a new strain‐size parameter of martensite is proposed to have a correlation with hardness, which will be useful in

The factorization method for the Askey–Wilson polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1999
A special Infeld-Hall factorization is given for the Askey-Wilson second order q-difference operator. It is then shown how to deducd a generalization of the corresponding Askey-Wilson polynomials.
