Measurements of dust deposition velocity in a wind-tunnel experiment [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2014
In this study, we present the results of a wind-tunnel experiment on dust deposition. A new method is proposed to derive dust deposition velocity from PDA (particle dynamics analysis) particle-velocity and particle-size measurements.

A low-cost wind tunnel for bird flight experiments [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Ornithology, 2022
AbstractA blower-type wind tunnel for physiological bird flight experiments has been developed, constructed and evaluated. Since the birds to be investigated are rather big (Northern Bald Ibis, Geronticus eremita), the cross-sectional area of the test section measures 2.5 m × 1.5 m. The maximum achievable flow speed is approximately 16 ms−1.

About the suitability of different numerical methods to reproduce model wind turbine measurements in a wind tunnel with a high blockage ratio [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science, 2018
In the present paper, numerical and experimental investigations of a model wind turbine with a diameter of 3.0 m are described. The study has three objectives. The first one is the provision of validation data.

Investigation on favorable pressure gradient in an atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel using large‐eddy simulation and its impact on wind field and surface pressure measurement

open access: yesJapan Architectural Review, 2023
A constant cross‐section wind tunnel usually experiences a negative pressure gradient (ie, favorable pressure gradient, FPG), resulting in a certain degree of discrepancy between the simulated and idealized atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) flows.
