ANALYSIS OF MOTOR SPEED EFFECT ON WINDING TENSION IN THE WIND UP CALENDERING PROCESS

open access: yesProceedings of The Conference on Management and Engineering in Industry, 2019
The winding process is widely used in manufacturing industries. For the high speed winding, the centre winding method is used. Irregular internal stresses at the centre of the roll result in major weaknesses such as buckling, spoking and cinching. Therefore, entanglement with the right tension is very important to get a stable wound package.

Parametric study of tensegrity structures under seismic loading [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2022
Tensegrity structures are spatial structures made up of an assembly of pin-jointed, prestressed continuous tension members and discontinuous compressive members, arranged in different complex shapes.

Numerical simulation of the airflow–rivulet interaction associated with the rain-wind induced vibration phenomenon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Rain-wind induced vibration is an aeroelastic phenomenon that occurs on the inclined cables of cable-stayed bridges. The vibrations are believed to be caused by a complicated nonlinear interaction between rivulets of rain water that run down the cables ...

Frequency-domain modeling of floating wind arrays with shared mooring lines [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science
A frequency-domain model for floating wind turbine dynamics has been extended to model floating wind farms with couplings from shared mooring systems. The model, called RAFT, could previously calculate the mean offsets and wave-induced response spectra ...

An investigation into the aerodynamic characteristics of catenary contact wires in a cross-wind [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
An experimental analysis of the aerodynamic characteristics of catenary contact wires is presented. The aerodynamic data obtained were used to calculate the Glauert-Den Harthog criterion for one-dimensional galloping.

Assessment of Spray Drift with Various Adjuvants in a Wind Tunnel

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
When pesticides are sprayed, a significant portion of the droplets drifts away from the target. Using an adjuvant in spray liquid is an easy option for reducing droplet drift because there is no need to make any changes to the sprayer.

Efficient preliminary floating offshore wind turbine design and testing methodologies and application to a concrete spar design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The current key challenge in the floating offshore wind turbine industry and research is on designing economic floating systems that can compete with fixed-bottom offshore turbines in terms of levelized cost of energy. The preliminary platform design, as

Impact of Selected Methods of Cogging Torque Reduction in Multipolar Permanent-Magnet Machines

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
This paper focuses on the matter of cogging torque reduction by combining various methods of cogging torque minimization. Due to the high costs of prototype construction, cogging torque is minimized during the design phase by using numerical methods ...

IMF-induced escape of molecular ions from the Martian ionosphere [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2013
Since Mars does not possess a significant global intrinsic magnetic field, the solar wind interacts directly with the Martian ionosphere and can induce ion escapes from it.

A thermally stable tension meter for atmospheric soundings using kites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Kites offer considerable potential as wind speed sensors—a role distinct from their traditional use as instrument-carrying platforms. In the sensor role, wind speed is measured by kite-line tension.
