On the Wind Energy Conversion Systems

2018 15th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD), 2018
Wind energy is a source of economic energy, clean and inexhaustible. In this work we describe the different types of turbines and generators that exist in the literature and their models. In the next, we give the advantages and disadvantages for each type and their uses.

Offshore wind energy conversion systems

Wind Energy Conference, 1980
TRONG prevailing surface winds and relatively shallow water characterize much of the U.S. offshore regions. These properties, plus remoteness from population centers, infer that offshore siting of wind-turbine generators is desirable. However, a number of other factors, some more serious than others, detract from the concept.

Remote Wind Energy Conversion System

2020
This paper describes a SCADA system for a microgrid laboratory that simulates a grid-connected wind turbine. The SCADA application monitors the entire system, ensuring reliable and stable operation. It gathers information from all the elements of the system, including the embedded controller of the emulator and the grid-connected inverter.

Optimum Wind-Energy Conversion Systems

Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics, 1977
The history of energy-converting machines is the story of consistently increasing specific speed. This is also true for wind-energy converters jf we neglect the step backwards between 1868 and approximately 1910, when comparatively small low speed multiblade steel windmills were introduced, as a temporary help mainly for farming in semiarid areas.

Modeling and control of wind energy conversion system

2016 5th International Conference on Systems and Control (ICSC), 2016
In this paper, the performance of the wind energy conversion system had been improved by controlling all the components of the system, we have used MPPT control methods to extract the maximum of power, and we have developed the direct vector control to control the double fed induction generator based on the vector control of stator flux orientation ...

Wind-Energy Conversion System Simulation Program

Journal of Energy, 1980
This paper describes a program which was developed to simulate the operation and performance of a windenergy conversion system (WECS) for a nonutility potential user, and to perform a lifecycle economic analysis. The system consists of a wind turbine in conjunction with purchased utility power and an optional energy storage system and heat engine ...

A Review of Wind Energy Conversion Systems

2022 10th International Conference on Smart Grid (icSmartGrid), 2022
© 2022 IEEE.In the last decade, wind energy as a renewable energy source has become increasingly popular, and the establishment of large-scale wind energy conversion systems (WECS) and its connection to the electricity grid has become common. However, conventional power systems are not directly compatible with the characteristics of wind turbines.

Small wind-energy conversion systems

Electronics and Power, 1984
Wind turbines of capacity less than 100 kW have been much neglected for power production and energy capture in the UK. Other countries have facilities for testing and development, and have encouraged successful manufacturing programmes.

Assessment of wind energy potential using wind energy conversion system

Journal of Cleaner Production, 2019
Abstract Wind energy, as a renewable resource, is the most rapidly growing source that produces electrical energy using wind turbines. Such a wind energy conversion system is both economical and is environmental friendly. It requires understanding of wind conditions at the site under study.
