Engineering wind farms

Power Engineering Journal, 1993
As wind turbines become more common, electrical power engineers will be called on increasingly to design, build and operate wind farms. This article provides an introduction to the engineering of wind farms and discusses their particular implications for the distribution system.

Computational wind engineering

Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1990
Abstract The state of the art of computational wind engineering is reviewed. Firstly, the numerical method for simulating turbulent airflow in wind engineering is described briefly. The diagnostic system for assessing the results of numerical simulation is described and error estimation and mesh resolution are discussed.

Computational Wind Engineering: Theory and Applications

2011
Computational Wind Engineering (CWE) is the application of computational methods to Wind Engineering problems. While CWE is more than Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) alone, CFD has so far constituted the major part of CWE.

Microzonation in Wind Engineering

Journal of the Structural Division, 1979
The writers indicate a direction for the improvement of the wind design of structures. The direction involves the extension of previous wind speed mapping procedures to incorporate local meteorological conditions in the development of a wind speed map for a local geographic region.

Introduction to Wind Engineering, Wind Structure, Wind-Building Interaction

2007
A brief introduction to wind engineering with the main characteristics of the wind structure are provided. Velocity profiles, turbulence and spectra are described along with the effects of upstream exposure. Wind speed and turbulence models for inhomogeneous upstream exposures are presented along with data comparisons from other sources.
