Wind farms increase land surface temperature and reduce vegetation productivity in the Inner Mongolia

open access: yesGeography and Sustainability
Wind power has been developing rapidly as a key measure to mitigate human-driven global warming. The understanding of the development and impacts of wind farms on local climate and vegetation is of great importance for their rational use but is still ...

Short-Term Wind Speed Forecasting Based on Information of Neighboring Wind Farms

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
To address the uncertainty caused by integrating wind power into the electricity grid, accurate wind speed forecasting is highly desired. However, historical wind speed data of new wind farms may be insufficient for training a well-performed forecasting ...

WIND FARMS AND AVIATION

open access: yesAviation, 2009
Wind is an increasingly important source of energy for the Slovak Republic. It is exploited by the use of turbines to generate electricity. Because of their physical size, in particular their height, wind farms can have an effect on aviation. Additionally, rotating wind turbine blades may have an impact on certain aviation operations, particularly ...

On wake modeling, wind-farm gradients and AEP predictions at the Anholt wind farm [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science, 2017
Abstract. We investigate wake effects at the Anholt offshore wind farm in Denmark. We perform the analysis with three commonly-used wake models; two engineering approaches (the Park and G. C. Larsen models) and a linearized Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes approach (Fuga). From analysis of SCADA and mesoscale model simulations, we show that for westerly

Criteria-Based Fuzzy Logic Risk Analysis of Wind Farms Operation in Cold Climate Regions

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Different risks are associated with the operation and maintenance of wind farms in cold climate regions, mainly due to the harsh weather conditions that wind farms experience in that region such as the (i) increased stoppage rate of wind turbines due to ...

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Research of Wind Power Correlation With Three Different Data Types Based on Mixed Copula

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
With the increasing integration of large-scale wind farms, the stochastic characteristics of wind speed and the coupling relationship of geographically distributed wind farms become ineligible.

Ultrasensitive Detection of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus Infections Using Multivalent DNA Nanostructure‐Enabled Lateral Flow Assay

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A multivalent DNA nanostructure‐enabled lateral flow assay was developed for rapid, ultrasensitive detection of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) nucleocapsid protein. Designer net‐shaped DNA nanostructures (DNA‐Net) presenting PEDV‐specific aptamers achieved ~1000‐fold enhanced binding, enabling detection of viral copies with Ct ≤ 37.42 within 10
