Contracting for Wind Generation [PDF]
The UK Government proposes offering long-term Feed-in-Tariffs (FiTs) to low-carbon generation to reduce risk and encourage new entrants. Their preference is for a Contract-for-Difference (CfD) or a premium FiT (pFiT) for all generation regardless of type. I argue that neither is suitable for on-shore wind, where a fixed FiT appears less risky.

Applicability of Light-Curable Anti-Corrosion Coatings for Offshore Wind Power Equipment [PDF]
The issue of corrosion failure in offshore wind turbine steel pipe piles has become increasingly evident, posing a significant threat to the safe operation of offshore wind energy systems.

Floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) have been installed in Europe and Japan with relatively modern technology. The installation of floating wind farms in deep water is recommended because the wind speed is stronger and more stable.

The importance of a reliable blade root connection has grown due to the higher-gravity-induced edgewise loads on the blade root that resulted from the recent increased size and weight of a wind turbine rotor blade.

On the Wind Generation of Water Waves [PDF]
In this work, we consider the mathematical theory of wind generated water waves. This entails determining the stability properties of the family of laminar flow solutions to the two-phase interface Euler equation. We present a rigorous derivation of the linearized evolution equations about an arbitrary steady solution, and, using this, we give a ...

Failure warning of gearbox for wind turbine based on 3σ-median criterion and NSET
Wind turbine has been working in the harsh environment for a long time, which leads to frequent failures. It is of great practical significance to use reasonable and efficient methods to early-warning wind turbine components. In the actual operation, due

Radiative Transfer and Generalized Wind
Dissimilar flows can be compared by exploiting the fact that all flux densities divided by their conjugate volume densities form velocity fields, which have been described as generalized winds. These winds are an extension of the classical notion of wind in fluids which puts these distinct processes on a common footing, leading to thermodynamical ...

Rotor angle stability with high penetrations of wind generation [PDF]
This paper explores the relationship between wind generation, particularly the control of reactive power from variable speed wind turbine generators, and the rotor angle stability of the conventional synchronous generators in the system.

Combining hydro-generation and wind energy biddings and operation on electricity spot markets [PDF]
Wind generation is growing rapidly in all the world, especially in Europe. The power produced by this kind of generation is difficult to predict and the predictions are not very accurate. In most systems these imbalances are costly.
