KiteGen: A revolution in wind energy generation

Energy, 2009
Abstract Control of tethered airfoils is investigated, in order to devise a new class of wind generators to overcome the main limitations of the present wind technology, based on wind mills. A model from the literature is used to simulate the dynamic of a kite whose lines are suitably pulled by a control unit.

Managing Household Wind-Energy Generation

IEEE Intelligent Systems, 2008
The use of intelligent-agent technology to aggregate wind-energy generation installed at several households and battery storage installed in similarly large number of households is described. This situation creates a virtual generator that can be dispatched on the electricity grid in a similar manner to to centralized generation.

Evaluation of wind-generator potentiality

Solar Energy, 1995
Abstract The paper presents a method to analyse wind data for wind-turbine siting. Two parameters are defined by means of which the siting can be optimised, the site effectiveness (ratio output/available energy) and the cut-in speed. It is shown that the site effectiveness achieves a maximum for a value of the cut-in speed which depends on the rated ...

Series compensated open-winding PM generator wind generation system

2012 15th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (EPE/PEMC), 2012
This paper presents a new wind power generation system utilizing an open-winding permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). A diode rectifier is used for the major portion of power conversion process. In addition, the proposed system controls the generated power by using an auxiliary voltage source inverter located at the neutral of the generator ...

Generation of Wind Waves

Journal of the Waterways and Harbors Division, 1966
The processes of wind-wave generation are examined in light of recent theoretical work by several applied mathematicians. Measurements of air pressure fluctuations over wind waves in laboratory tanks are presented, and the existence of a phase shift between the air pressure fluctuations and the water surface fluctuations (waves) is demonstrated through

Wind and General Circulation

2017
Wind is the directional motion of air particles. The general circulation is a representation of climatic state of wind, which is a linear and delayed response of periodic solar radiation forcing. The timescale of general circulation is from diurnal cycle to seasonal cycle, while its spatial scale ranges from a small peninsula to continent and basin.
