Energy Sources, 2004
Renewable energy is accepted as a key source for the future, not only for Turkey, but also for the world. This study investigates the potential for wind and wave power around the world and in Turkey, and provides an overview of the historical development of both energy resources.

Wind characteristics and wind energy potential in Morocco
Solar Energy, 1998Abstract The wind characteristics of 11 sites in the windy regions in Morocco have been analysed. The annual average wind speed for the considered sites ranged from 5 m/s to 10 m/s and the average power density from 100 W/m 2 to 1000 W/m 2 , which might be suitable for electrical power production by installing wind farms.

Wind speed and wind energy potential of Jordan
Solar Energy, 1987Abstract Routine wind data from 11 stations in Jordan have been analysed. Monthly average, and seasonal wind speed and average power density distributions were determined for each station. The monthly average wind speed for the two most potential sites Ras Muneef (RA) and Mafraq (MF) ranged from 3.0 to 7.4 m/sec and the average power density for ...

Evaluation of wind-generator potentiality
Solar Energy, 1995Abstract The paper presents a method to analyse wind data for wind-turbine siting. Two parameters are defined by means of which the siting can be optimised, the site effectiveness (ratio output/available energy) and the cut-in speed. It is shown that the site effectiveness achieves a maximum for a value of the cut-in speed which depends on the rated ...

Wind of change: predicting wind potentials for the energy transition
2021<p>Wind energy is a promising renewable resource to contribute to the energy transition in many parts of the world.&#160;In contrast to solar power, it is available at any time of the day; however, it is highly variable and complex to model.

Resources and Conservation, 1981
Abstract Wind energy is not used widely in society mainly because the wind blows only intermittently. Today, energy supply is dominated by sources which can be controlled easily to vary with demand. Now that energy prices are rising, and there is considerable interest in alternatives to fossil and nuclear fuels, wind power stands out.

Wind energy potential estimation with prediction of wind speed distribution
International Journal of Intelligent Systems Technologies and Applications, 2018Integration of renewable distributed generation technology with radial power distribution system is rapidly growing. Among the number of available renewable energy sources, the role of wind energy in the power sector is very important. In this work, authors have estimated the wind energy potential at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India. Estimation of

The Effects on Potential for Wind Erosion of Soil
1988Just as drought severity and frequency and biomass productivity are affected by climatic change (Section 2), so is soil degradation. Wind erosion of soil is considered here as it is a major soil degradation process in Saskatchewan. About 60% of the total annual soil loss due to wind and water on the Canadian Prairies can be ascribed to wind erosion ...
