Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Wind Power: The Economic Impact of Intermittency

open access: yes, 2010
Wind is the fastest growing renewable energy source for generating electricity, but economic research lags behind. In this study, therefore, we examine the economics of integrating large-scale wind energy into an existing electrical grid.

Analysis on Operating Clearance of Matched Single Row Tapered Roller Bearings for Wind Turbine Main Shaft

open access: yes南方能源建设
[Introduction] The main shafting structure with double supports of single row tapered roller bearings has been widely used in wind turbines, and determining the appropriate bearing operating clearance is crucial for the reliable operation of bearings and

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Fatigue prediction of high-strength bolts in wind turbines

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong
The flange plate and blade root hub of wind turbines are connected by high-strength bolts, and the collapse of most wind turbine towers is caused by the fatigue of the connecting bolts.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Optimization of a Wind Turbine Gearbox Design Reducing Component Damage Risk Considering Different Electrical Faults

open access: yesEnergies
Wind turbine (WT) drivetrains are exposed to high dynamic loads, especially caused by grid and converter faults. Those loads increase the frictional energy in the contact zone of the gearbox bearings and gear wheels and, thus, theoretically, the ...
